W58 to 1J.can I use an R154 fly.clutch.custom p.p.???????? Thu, 02 June 2005 15:47 Go to next message
Yeah,I am having trouble getting the na 2j flywheel required to fit w58 to 1j and will end up with a spare 1j r154 flywheel, clutch and p.plate so I wondered if it may be possible to utilise the flywheel and clutch from the R154 set up with a p.plate [unknown] to suit fitment of the w58.
Being aware R154 is pull clutch and W58 is push and different bolt pattern for p.plate to flywheel.Still it may be easier to sort a p.plate to do the job rather than chasing the 2j fly at $250 plus.
Any info appreciated.Cheers.Pete. Smile

Try taking your flywheel to a good clutch shop (eg Direct Clutch) and see if they can help you.

Or you could wait a few weeks and buy my 2JZ-GE setup... flywheel, bellhousing and ceramic 5-puck clutch. It's no good to me when the V161 goes in. Very Happy

pete

I enquired about this when I did my 1JZ conversion, extreme clutch make a clutch and pressure plate to do the job but you need to get the 1JZGTE R154 Flywheel modified to handle it or source a 2JZ NA flywheel(which you obviously already know) the clutch plate and pressure plate are useless as the splines on the clutch plate are different and the pressure plate is a pull type, getting the flywheel modified I was quoted at around $200, and if its already been machined a couple of times or more you cant modify it as they will have to take too much off of it do make it compatible.

Id just get the 2JZGE NA flywheel norbs has on offer or go for an R154...modifying stuff isnt worth it

add this up
300 bellhousing
250 flywheel
500 gearbox
its bullshit and people say R154's are expensive Mad
the way to go is a complete 2J set up at $1000 or so,seems cheaper buying a bit at a time but it aint......
