Will a JDM ecu plug straight up to a AUS 4AGE? Tue, 07 June 2005 04:03 Go to next message
Have a Bluetop 4AGE in my Sprinter, and am about to invest in a JDM ecu, will this plug straight in or do I have to change some of the wiring?
I know I will have to run it on 98ron, which I do now anyway.
But I dont want to go and buy the ecu and then have it not work or not work properly.
Has anyone else done this, and just plugged the ecu straight in?
Thanks heaps for any info.
Cheers.

youd probably get better results with say a microtech or the likes for a 4ag ECU " upgrade "

Save your dollars - do it once, do it right with something that you can build apon later on ( ie GZE or turbo swaps )

Higher redline maybe, but do you have the cams to go there?

nope, just tested it then , it doesnt even rev higher?
The car is running a bit smoother now tho.
It was only $50 so its not that much of a problem.
I didnt think I would need cams? I was figuring the only difference between my bluetop and the JDM bluetop was the computer and the RWD setup -intake,water lines. but internally and electrically they are the same?
meh, its not like I spent a shitload!

I think the tuning maps are slightly different which is why the jdm 4age gets a 97kw rating and the adm gets 86kw. Better fuel, therefore better tune for the jap spec.
