4AGZE Supercharger Upgrade???

Hey Guys,
My First Post
Well i might be buying a Corolla. Not sure what the series is called.
This is the shape
Well the car has a Supercharged 4AGZE in it. Running a Microtech ecu.
Well before i buy it i just wanted to know what upgrade's to look at and what limitations it has.
Now first things first does a 1GGZE supercharger fit the 4AGZE?
If so what mods are done. Has anyone done it here?
Well the car seems to have the standard pulley setup on it and also has the factory headers too but with a mandrel bent exhaust. It also has a small front mount intercooler setup...
Would extractors make a major difference?
The car does go alright but suffers at the top end.
What should i look out for with the 4AGZE?

No, does not bolt directly on.
You have to custom make the mountings brackets to get the 1G-GZE SC onto a 4A-GZE.
Yes, a couple of people have done it here and they may chime in to this post.
Good extractors will help a bit, but don't expect miracles.
Has the car been dyno tuned/set-up with the Microtech ECU ? If so did they find problems at its top end ?
Use the 'Search' function to find out more info on the 1G-GZE SC and the performance of the 4A-GZE.

do you know if it is a smallport orbigport gze???
the 1ggze superchargers have been adapted to fit onto this motor but from memory there is issues with making it fit with the standard inlet manifold.
I wouldnt worry about the 1gg supercharger if you want more power and torque buy a nevo 175mm crank pulley this will make a big difference upgrade the front mount to something bigger to allow for the extra heat the pulley will make and it should be quite a quick little rolla you might need a retune on the microtech at this stage.
Main thing to look out for me would be that there isnt exessive oil on the sump or oil leaking onto the headers from the dizzy if it has one.
They are quite a little robust engine if you look after them.

I'm suprised no one has said it yet...
TURBO!!
Just something cheap like a T25g from a silvia will be a nice upgrade.
Heaps of people on here have turboed their 4agzes, and there is a good article to read in the articles section on this...
By the way I do believe that is an AE82 you have there.

it is alot cheaper to put a new pulley on than turbo unless you can make up things like exhaust manifolds dump pipes etc.
If you wanna spend about 3k then turbo is better than supercharged the pulleys are what about $500-600 and a retune of the microtech what $400 bigger i/c say something from a 1ggte are what $500 including piping were oly at 1500-a600 buks here pretty much half the cost of a turbo setup.

..fitted an sc14 to my aw11 no problems, retains stock intake etc. you can adapt it to run stock cooler also its not that hard, too many people are stuck in a 2D box.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the replies.
Not sure of what port type the motor is. I'll take a pic of the engine in the next few days as the car is not far from me...
But i know that the motor is from a MR2...
The dizzie is leaking oil. The owner is going to fix that.
I don't really want to go turbo. The car is enginered with this motor in.
I've been for a cruise in it and it gives wrx's a hard time
The s/c only kicks in a full throttle. Thats how the switch is setup.
I will get power figures from him. I'm not 100% on them atm.

Hey Guys,
Went for another drive in the car today.
The car needs a couple of things done to it.
Well the dash need to fixed or replaced. It rattles all over the place. Also i'm gonna have to get a tacho for it as the factory one doesn't work with the 4A conversion..
The drivers seat needs replacing as it noisy... Would any later model seats fit in the AE82?
Also i didn't realise how shithouse the brakes are on the AE82's.
What upgrades do you guys carry out on em?

The AW11 seat would probably fit with some minor mods. Great seat! Hugs me well....

i wouldnt be supprised if the aw11 s/c or 88-89 n/a front brakes and calipers would bolt straight on. However it might be alot easier to find some ae82 twin cam front calipers and brakes i think they are bigger than the 4ac ones im not sure tho

also, is the person your buying the car off a bad lebo ?
noisy rattles, broken seat, leaking oil. just dont buy that car too many hassles.
plus ae82's suck.
|
If you are referring to ALL 4AGZEs and ALL AE82s i seriously think you need to explain why !!
The AE82 twin cams were one of the best cars per $ of the era !
A friend of mine still has an original one, absolutely stock its done 200k is in excellent condition and still drives like new and way way better than any other 1600cc hatch in recent times.
the ride and handling, very zippy and fun to drive, sure its getting dated on the inside but hey...its a 19 year old car !
And dont get me started on the GZE.
To sum up i really dont think its very nice to bag someones car, and certainly not without some sort of explanation.

thats nice and compact!!!
why not go a sprintex SC.. much more efficent than the shitty toyota roots style blowers, so you still have heaps of top end (and sucks half the power )
entry cost is high tho, but imho well worth it...
if you buy a car from a dodgy person, you get a dodgy car.. maybe thats why they are offering it so cheap?

Well at the moment i'm not 100% on what to do.
Still haven't sold my car so it seems that the rolla will be sold to someone else.
The owner isn't dodgy, it's my mechanic tbh. He bought it off a customer of his that needed the money.
I pretty good mates with him thats why he is giving to me for a good price...
"If" i do get it i'll way up the bang for buck options i have with the rolla...
