Hey does anyone know where to buy electronic pressure sensors in bris. like the ones used for boost gauges ect. i am after on that can do up to 1 - 1.5Bar. I know there are some that are cheap around (the ones i can find are $100+ and do way more then i want) but i just don't know where to find them.

Lots of places sell them... e.g. Capa.

Also if you want a MAP sensor that can read up to 1 bar of boost you will need a 2 bar sensor, if you want one that does up to 2 bar you will need a 3 bar sensor.

Remember the air you are breathing is roughly 1 bar.

You mean it's boost we're breathing now!

anything under $100. i find it hard to believe there isn't cheap ones. do i really want a map sensor though. i just want resistance change vs pressure.

i'd suggest going to wreckers to find an onboard MAP sensors.

More about MAP sensors here (if you're building/using a Megasquirt):
<http://www.megasquirt.info/manual/3bar.htm>

Most map sensors require some kind of reference voltage and the output of the device is DC voltages ranging from 0 to 5V

Devices that change resistance are usually temp sensors.

Got Pressure?

Patent Pending,

Warning: may be completely useless in a moving environment because of tendancy for liquid to surge during hard cornering Smile

nice eldar.

Now that page you sent me chuck states them for only $20 - $25. where do i get them that cheap? even at US price that is only $50.

Are all map sensors a little box with a plug for the pipe to go onto? i am writing my own program and stuff so i just need something - anything that i can retrieve a voltage from wrt pressure. I may try eldars or just check out a wrecker.

Or do all cars have one of these? even non turbo, because i would think they would still want to measure vacuum.

Yeah just go grab a random MAP sensor from a wrecker.
Most newer NA and FI cars have them.
NA cars will have about a 1.5 bar map sensor
Turbo / FI cars will have 2 bar upwards.
