WHAT DID THE 2TG COME OUT OFF?

hey guys as the topic states what did the 2tg come out off? and where would i pick one up for a decent price? the missus has decided that she doesnt like the power in her toy ke20 so a engine transplant from that era is what she wants. she wants to keep it retrotech.

ta22 GT,
all i know of, although my mates corolla had one in it.
generally look for a t series corolla/celica... although not the te72 (t-18) because that had the 3t.

Hi,
The 2TG came with the TA-series 1600cc GT series Celicas and the Levine (T-series?) model Corollas - in the early to mid 70s.
The 18RG came with the RA-series 2000cc GT series Celicas and the GT Corona of the early-mid 70s. Maybe they were in the Carina also, but I am not familiar with that model. However, these are JDM GT vehicles. The USA got GT Celicas, but they had the 18RC or 20R engines, not the 18RG (ie they were GT in trim only - not the performance items of the JDM models). Not sure which countries officially got the full JDM-type GT Celicas, other than Japan of course.
1G-series????? Dunno.

And also to note is that the TE27 to TE57 also came with the 2t-c.
The ol' memory has discided to go fuzzy but but ithink it was the Levin series that had the twin cam while the Trueno was the OHV.

The Carina GTs were available with the 2TG and later the 18RG, in 2 and 4 door sedans and hardtops, but I doubt any of the export Carinas (mostly to Europe it seems) were equipped with these motors. Since the Carinas were basially a Celica with different panels, all the running gear was highly similar.

Not sure where you could pick up an engine?? you could also go all out and get a 3TGTEU!! Wouldn't be suited to the period of the car but!
Bit off topic, is your missus driving the mustard colour ke20 gettin round c'town?
