bottom ends are the same.
only difference is the big end bearings.
what condition are your bores in ?
are you replacing the rings.
as whats the point in stripping and rebuilding it only to have a worn out motor still.

From what I know, the compression differences are mostly in the piston tops. Most standard head gaskets are at about 1mm thick.
I think the 2T-GEU, 3T-GTEU head gaskets all work the same. There maybe some very small differences. I have used a 2T head gasket on my 2T-G before, (with other gasket bits and sealant around the timing cover). It worked well. There is a difference in the oil suply hole sometimes. Some gaskets have it as a round hole, some a oval, some a teardrop oval. Cheak the position of the oil suply hole in the block and the head.
Standard gaskets are good for a 86mm bore. If you go over this, you need a custom 89mm gasket.

I ahve done visual inspection of the two had gaskets and apart from material (which i could not tell any difference with the naked eye) the only difference is the 3tgte head gasket has extra silicon around the oil gallery holes for extra sealing.
You will only need a 2tg gasket rebuild set
