AE85 Red/Black Trueno Sun, 19 June 2005 08:34 Go to next message
Ok i am never going to get the time to do so many projects , getting sick of charging the battery and taking if for a run every few weeks . So just seeing if theres going to be any real interest here before placing the car on ebay with added TAK TAX .

Ae85 , Red & Black factory two tone , rust around the rear left hand wheel arch where someone has scraped it once {can supply spare quarter panel with no rust for repair } , left hand door added side inpact bar is loose in door and needs rewelding , no other rust , was imported to Australia a long time ago before they i got to rust in the normal spots as they do in japan . Roof and rear hatch could do with a buff . Missing left hand side headlight plastic surround .

Interior is brown , rear seat top is ripped , dash doesnt even have a single crack . All electrics , lights etc work , wiring has never been touched of fucked with . Has the non adjustable steering column which is a shit load lighter unit than the aus spec ones , also has powersteering arms fitted and loads of steering lock for those drifters , A/C , some Jvc tape unit .

Engine was converted to a 4ac from 3a some years ago over here , engine is stuffed on cylinder number one , still goes but would require a $50 4ac , Has Jdm bell-housing and perfect t50 , sweet syncro in every gear , 170.000 klm on the clock must be correct . Car drives very well , S series drum diff etc in perfect condition .

Very original car in all , would love to restore back to new but will never get the chance at this rate Sad . Someone could alway paint over the red with white and be like that TAK guy that those models in K mart are based on Laughing

Chasis and body wise is there any significant differences between an ae85 and ae86? or is it just the motor?

There is no chassis difference , apart from a strange round plate next to the clutch master which might have been for a cable clutch in some very early cars its the same , apart from never being crashed or rusted out .

That Plate http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=getfile&id=12642

The Rear http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=getfile&id=12643

The Rust http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=getfile&id=12644

AE85 came standard with cable clutch and gearbox with a 3AC, hence the "knob" on the firewall as you correctly indicated as for a clutch cable

More or less?

I know it is now in EOI status, but
I am really interested.

I dont know much about AE85, but i know it is a Jap spec one. My question is does it come with the "Aus spec" interior?

Also as a know AE85 only comes with LEVIN version, so it yours is the front conversion one?

Correct me if I am wrong.

And could you post more specification on that car please.
OR PM me.

You are wrong.
You can definitely get AE85s in trueno's. Even panda! hehe

the Australian ae86s got decked out with the budget ae85 interior. That is why they look the same.

are you serious?

you never knew of the 85?

its essentially the same as the 86 with one significant change. the engine.

the body is exactly the same. there were the 2 kindas. trueno and levin.

but the 86 has a DOCH and the 85 has a SOCH. very big power difference. well it is for those cars.

i think its like 80ish HP for the SOCH and about 130ish or maybe more for the DOCH. but then again it depends on the engine type. these specs might be for the jap cars. cant be certian for the aust ones.

looks like a real nice 85. hope ya get what ya want for it.

The ae85 is a japanese SOHC 3A-U motor. (1.5 litres)... The gear box is different to the aus spec t50. But the rear end is the same. S series.

Aus spec ae86 has got the SOHC 4A-C motor with the t-50 gear box and the s series rear.

--

keep in mind that the term ae85-ae86 is a chassis code.

The reason why aus specs are still called ae86s (despite being SOHC and performance similar to an ae85) is because its got the engine mounts for 1.6 litre, 4a class motor. Meaning you can bolt a 4age on to it without custom mounts. HENCE, you can drop a GT-APEX, GT-V motor + parts in with NO custom work (Because it's the same chassis!).

hope this clears things up Smile

No still drives fine as per the first post , one cylinder being at lower compression just mean that you will never get a single throttle body engine to idle smoothly . Like i said in the first post no Takumi Tax on the price . Can the serious people please get incontact with me before the end of next week .

Yeah with a Trueno front, I can't imagine this thing going for any less than $4K, even if the engine was totally fcuked. (4ACs are so cheap)

If it were in WA, I'd be seriously tempted.. But I already have enough cars for now.

despite the fact the seller has clearly said 'OFFERS', ppl still want to discuss the market price for sprinters and 'takumi tax'
