V8 Cressida up for sale - Now with pics and ad-link.

We've thought about this before (even advertising it briefly once or twice  ), but have decided it's time to "move on" (in a financial sense).
So, the Cress is up for sale. This time, however, it will remain so until sold.
Specs etc can be found at http://www.itplanet.net.au/Cressida/Final_update_S eptember_2004.htm and, include:
1989 MX83 Cressida GLX
Healthy 1UZ-FE engine conversion (produced 153RWKW at CCG dyno-day 24/10/2004).
A340E 4-speed auto
HSV 330mm slotted rotors/VX-VY calipers front, slotted rotors rear
Koni yellow shocks and struts, with Kings variable rate lowering springs all-round
Autronic SMC engine management (engine) factory management (transmission)
LSD
17" mags with new Yokohama ES100 tyres
JVC head unit with in-dash MP3 capable CD player controlling a JVC 12-stack MP3 capable unit (in the boot), 640W amp, 10-inch sub and 6 premium-quality speakers. (Remote controlled).
Usual features such as R134A regassed A/C, cruise control, power windows/mirrors/steering, electric sunroof etc.
We have effectively got the car as far as we're prepared to take it, although it obviously has plenty of potential left. Everything works as it should, and the car is an absolute pleasure to drive. Both interior and exterior present extremely well (car appears to have been Canberra-based for most of it's "life" and is therefore rust free). Velour interior (blue) is virtually un-marked. Carpets are in excellent condition (protected by foot mats).
Naturally, a remote central-locking alarm/immobiliser system is fitted.
Vehicle is engineered for engine, brakes, suspension, wheels and tow-bar...
Car will be sold with a number of spares including original 15" rims, "spare" 2.5" cat-back exhaust section, OEM air-box etc.
We are looking for the best reasonable offer. We are negotiable but would ask that potential buyers consider what it would cost to build in parts alone, before making offers.

Car must be sold, so I am open to (reasonable) offers. The Canberra guys (and those who've seen it at the 'Nats/Lextreme meet etc) can attest to it's condition.
Would prefer it go to an enthusiast, but will probably advertise it in more "mainstream" publications if no interest soon.

Obviously u dont intend to buy it, so keep your comments to yourself or PM the guy if you just want to give him your opinion.

I actually know Darren's car, and what has been done to it (Mine was the second 1UZ MX83 to be done after Darren's). I think even Darren would agree that, of the two cars, mine is actually more heavily modified. (Running $1700 worth of Autronic engine-management for starters).
Perhaps you could keep your clueless comments to yourself??? (Just a suggestion).

As for the rest of the Toymods community, I am dropping the price to $16,500. Those who know the car will agree this is a reasonable price for what's been done to the car. Those who don't know the car, or can't be bothered reading the specs above (or clicking the link and reading the web-site write-up), please refrain from giving us your "informed" opinions of what the car should be sold for. *Points to post above*

i was merely refering to this comment here. it more like hes clueless as to why no one is interested i was simply pointing out that his price was too high.
btw most of what i have said is just repeated by someone else who knows a hell of alot more about these cars and this type of conversion.

Didn't that silver Grande with the BHG go for $1,000? I'd reckon the conversion wouldn't cost $11k...
But that's just my opinion.

You are forgetting the suspension, brakes, wheels, tyres, tuning, ecu, etc etc etc.
And besides that fact, $1000 for a BHG MX83 is well below normal prices.

If you're interested in the car, arrange to have a look at it, then see what you think it's worth. I'm a firm believer that a genuinely interested person who looks at the car will get a better understanding of what has gone into getting it to where it's at, and will consequently be able to see reasonable value in what we're asking.
The car has been driven in all conditions (incl. a couple of track days) to ensure that the modifications we've made are completely up to scratch and are reliable. It has never been drag-raced, or thrashed generally. It will happily commute to and from work in traffic, cruise on a Sat. night (if that's your thing), keep more-fancied cars honest in "spirited" driving, and is the kind of thing you can jump into and drive 1000kms a day in, and get out feeling OK. Basically, just what we were after. It was done right from the get go, and we've been religious with servicing the car every 5000kms since. Apart from the track days, we have seldom driven it hard. It has travelled approx. 26000kms total since the conversion (which was completed around September 2002). The majority of other components (suspension/wheels/tyres/brakes/stereo etc) have been added within the last 15000kms.
So, as I said, if you ARE interested, at least have a look. You can always say "I don't think it's worth what you're asking" afterwards, although I doubt you will...

Is certainly sucks when you spend a shit load on a car and get bugger all back when you try to sell it. Done that once on a jap car never again. This time I done up a muscle car and after spending $8,000 (including the car) I sold it for $14,000!!

Took the car for a spin yesterday (250km round trip)...As usual, performed faultlessly (and really DOES have some get up and go!). Whoever (eventually) buys this car will be getting something that, with reasonable car and attention, will last 10+ years without drama. All in all, a top car which we are only selling as it is now surplus to requirements (and our financial goals lay in other directions).
If this is he kind of car/project you (or someone you know) is considering, give me a call.
