Hey guys,
Will a lock-rite diff centre from a solid axle hilux 4x4 fit into my MX83 cressida housing??
From what I have been told, the hilux housing is a g series
diff, same as my MX83, by right, the lockrite should bolt up
to my MX83 crown wheel and slide straight into the housing??
How hard is it to change centres on an MX83? hiluxs are a
piece of piss, never done an MX83 though.
How do you reckon she'd go with a lockrite? pretty sideways I
reckon!! Are lockrites good for drifting?
Cheers,
Bart

Yes, G series centres are interchangeable between IRS and live axle versions.

I just checked the lock-rite website,
they show 2 different diffs for the toyota
It says all 2WD hiluxs from 1969-1995 used
a 7.5" centre with 27 splines - Part number 1611
and all 4WDs used a 8" centre with 30 splines - part no 1610.
Are these both G-series? Which one is in the MX83?
I would presume the 2WD 7.5" centre??
Cheers,
Bart

Is this a US-based web site? Over there the 2WD Hilux's came with an F series (7.5") diff, but over here all Hilux's whether 2WD or 4WD have a G series (8") rear diff. MX83's also have a G series diff.
