can anyone tell me what this is I'm holding? for some reason it has +ve power in, a stupid mixture of wires underneath, and eventually just has 2 +ve lines out - what was wring with something a lot more simplified?

Not off hand - but I do know that wire caused me a bit of pain when the power to the car kept dropping out.

(the wire was all crusty and broken inside.)

ah crap. I was hoping to remove the need for that whole ugly black thing, but not if I'm going to need a 100A fuse

But that doesn't tell you what the rating of the fusible link is though ?

Last time I was at the wreckers, I grabbed a handful from a variety of donor RA65's. Very Happy

BTW, the black fuse cover on JB1 has the same decal as that used on the RA65. So now my car also has one of these Very Happy

It probably does mean something, you just have to decipher it.

Talk to your friendly auto electrician.
Mine made up a new lead from the alternator (for when I finally install the 1J) with a smaller and hardly noticeable fusible link in it. It is rated at 100A and barely larger than the diameter of the cable it is soldered to.

what could possibly be drawing that much power? starter motor, amp and head unit are all powered directly from the battery, which leaves coil packs and headlights as aboiut the only other majhor things the battery is powering. 100A seems total overkill.

and since the coil packs are running through my (fused) ECU, if anything goes wrong there that fuse will blow.

Don't forget it protects the factory alternator which is 65A + spiking.

Um, can I order one of the 243Amp units. How much incl postage ?

I am not sure that the slow blow is correctly rated. Isn't the M10 1,482 Amps, not the long M12 ? Wink
