MZ20 Speedo dead Thu, 30 June 2005 02:22 Go to next message
Hey fella's,

Just bought an mz20 an the speedo doesnt move off "0" kmph. Does anyone have any idea what it may be? Could it be something in the dash or is it most likely to be the sensor in the g-box?

Any help is appreciated.

Regards,
Shane

If it is anything like a MA61 dash, it will be the sensor/electronics in the dash.

But check the wiring and speedo cable to eliminate those.

Otherwise it is another dash.

Just called a couple of ppl and it appears that the problem will be with the sensor in the gearbox. Apparently on the soarers its a digital signal the whole way....A new sensor is $530 an 2 week wait.

Any one got one of these auto boxes at home i can buy the sensor off? I will pay top dollar for it Very Happy

Regards,
Shane

Slighly off topic, but can the speedo on a GZ/MZ soarer be adjusted if you were changing the size of the wheels on your car?

are you sure the speedo cable just isn't unplugged or the pin is broken?

does the odometer still move when driving?

my soarer (its a z10 though not a z20) is mechanical all the way. if it is electric then you can buy a kit from jaycar that will adjust the speedo pulse for bigger wheels.

If you run into problems and it is in the dash i am wrecking a Z20 so i have a dash cluster for you. it is an auto one from a GZ20.

Let me know
