Cheap MR2 Power?? Mon, 04 July 2005 11:30 Go to next message
I've just bought a 92 gt-s and want some more power. Without going overboard or risking the reliability I took it to an "expert" in turbo's. His advise was to build a new intercooler and also rebuild the turbo larger. Cost $2500 and his prediction would be an increse from approx 200 rwhp to 320 rwhp. Is this a good option?

start with the basics increase the flow of the exhaust 3" would be a good start a bigger intercooler and then a boost increase (i dont know what the factory boost cut is on 3sgte's) then aftermarket ecu i wouldnt go for a bigger turbo until you have these things sorted.

edit: if these things have been done then certainly upgrade the turbo. you may need to upgrade the fuel system aswell

Nice. I do have a 3" exhaust. For some reason its only 2.5 from the muffler to the tip though. I'm a little hesitant to take it past 14psi at the moment. With an intercooler and rebuilt turbo 20psi + could be an option though without strengthening any of the engine?
