Engineering number plates Tue, 05 July 2005 00:50 Go to next message
If you had you car engineered with the numberplates for example, ABC-123 then later you want to get AAA-111, do you need to get a new engineers certificate for the new plates?, whats involved?.

Cheers.

i would say no. but might be wrong.
on the engineers cert. it has the VIN/chasis no. and gets added onto the RTA database and then you get the cond. part on the rego label, so would remain legit i imagine. a friend had his car engineered and had old rego plates on it(unregistered) went to rta and was given new plates but the engineers is still legal

my engineering papers dont have my rego plate on them just the make , model , vin/chassis numbers so i would say no also the engineer only has to do with if the car is safe and complyent not what plate sits on it ?????

The engineering certificate number is printed on the rego papers, and I would assume is linked to the VIN/Chassis number.

Regardless the car i just got is engineered and before I bourght it the previous owner changed the plates and the engineering number still shows with no queries.
