sorry to hijacck this thread..

i am looking at possibly doing the 1JZ conversion late year, and rather than get a JZA70 halfcut which seem to be rare as tits on a bull, i might just see if i can source the engine + r154 separate, but whil were on the topic of sumps, i need to know before i go hunting for the JZA70 crossmember and all.. is the JZA70 a front or rear sump? is this the only difference??

Just get a JZA70 halfcut dude.
Even if you costs you mucho moola, its well worth it in the end.

And ToyShop (http://www.japimports.com.au/) did have a front sump for sale, email them.

i used a jza70 front cut for my Cressida. It is well worth it in the end.I have a useless rear sump left over.I paid $3000 for it and a few extra goodies come with it.I got my Front sump at AAA in Sydney.$220 incl. freight.

You can buy them new from Toyota. Expect to pay about $700 for all the bits.

"all done" does this mean you found the part?
"mates front sump" off na 1j or 2j? What is it exactly?
"holes are already marked" ?
"no changeover" does this mean they didnt want your sump?
"Japco" is this your mate?

I am interested to know how you are getting around the front sump problem for $120 just cant understand what you have said. Please spell it out for me cause I am a bit slow.[getting old, dementia setting in] Smile

Japco is a business in adelaide.
bought the front sump off a naturally aspirated 1j, inc oil pickup from them.
the sump has turbo pickup and low oil sensor moulded into it the holes just arent drilled.
got them drilled at Just cyminder heads for 50bucks.
no chnage over means i got to keep the old sump.

so all up was 170bucks which is a hell of a lot cheaper than adelaide jap dismantlers who wanted 350 and i had to give my old sump to them.
