4A-GZE Rebuild Tue, 05 July 2005 14:26 Go to next message
Hello all,

i have done a search for this topic and found a few things on here, but they didnt help me very much.

I am chasing a rebuild kit for a 4A-GZE engine that i have in my AE92 Corolla. I want everything except pistons. Can anybody point me in the right direction please?

Also i am chasing an English service and repair manual for these engines? any ideas?

Many thanks in advance!

When you say "everything" what does that actually mean? Are you including things like valves, shims, valve bushings, oil pump, etc etc?

Or do you just mean a seals/gasket kit + piston rings?

most auto spare parts shops should be able to get you aftermarket rings, bearings, and a full gasket kit etc.
good luck finding a manual for the 4agze. all you'll need is a 4age one anyways, the rebuild procedure is the same for both engines.

so you need a full gasket set, top and bottom, bearings for big and small end, head service, block machined, rings{why dont you need pistons?},waterpump, welsh plugs, new clutch if its below about half useable, especially in a FWD car, timing belt set,oil and fuel filters, engine and diff oil, coolant, radiator , thermostat, set of plugs, air cleaner if not a K&N etc and you might aswell change the power steering fluid and flush the brake fluid if it hasnt been done.

p.s anyone that needs to regas a aircon unit in a roll or a ae86 when doing a rebuild, shouldnt be a mechanic and or they are charging you for something that isnt really done.

thanks for the feedback guys, yes i am doing a full rebuild and i have a set of good pistons already. Does anyone do a rebuild kit for these engines? or does anyone know of a good place to order all my parts that i will need from? i am getting any machine work done locally so that is not a drama.

another thing i noticed, the stock pistons from Toyota are only $99 each?

And if i cant find a manual for the 4A-GZE engine, then where do i grab one for a 4A-GE engine? or are they easily obtainable?

I have a set of brand new GZE pistons for sale atm if you need some.

I've got a 4age rebuild manual that i bought privately off these forums but i'm pretty sure there's one in the "articles" section of the toymods website too.
