HI,
Will i get a decent power gain by replacing the inlet cam, say 264 on a small port 100kw engine? Are the exhaust and inlet interchangable?
thanks

NO the inlet cannot be interchanged with the exhaust cam. The exhaust cam has a gear to drive the dissy as shown here.

I read some where that when you buy 4age cams to buy 2 exhaust ones which i figured that the the exhaust could go into the inlet.
The reason i am asking is because i am thinking of buying one cam of 254 or 264 and putting into tyhe inlet and at a later date buying a 272 or some thing and swappig the 254/264 to the exhaust.
Thanks

by memory an exhaust cam will fit on the inlet side with the distributor drive gear. it has been a while since i played with my dismantled engine, but i am sure i tried it out and it worked.

Yeah that's fair enough then. I thought you were asking of you can put an Inlet cam into the Exhaust side! I don't know for certain if it would work but i don't see any reason it shouldn't.
