Hi all,
My 89 ma70 (stock suspension) has axle tramp when dropping the clutch. The 1jz is in the process of being installed which I can imagine is only going to aggravate this problem further. Is this just a case of worn out rear shocks or does this model have a problem with axle tramp?
Also, it has a standard diff. Would this be a torsen LSD and are they any good? The car is on a rapid path to high horsepower and im wondering if I will need to get an OS Giken superlock or something similar.
Thanks

ma70s have clutch type lsds
Its VERY strange you have axle tramp...the shocks must be absolutely shagged.
Ive been in some hi-powered ma70s with stock suspension, and they have been a joy to ride in, no tramp whatsoever. Have it checked over by a shop, it doesnt sound too good.

also, no you wont have to replace it due to more power from the 1jz. A lesser powered 7mgte would probly do more damage due to torque factor.
Ive seen ma70s with stock diffs pull 350rwkw without dramas. Run good oil, and maintain it like you would a motor, and it will last. i use penrite limslip
