http://news.bbc.co.uk/# also has the story.
just looking now.
Edit Just got this from BBC
Tube shutdown: Eyewitness reports
Several people have been injured after a series of explosions, initially blamed on power surges, led to the whole London Underground network being closed down.
Eyewitnesses tell BBC News what they have seen and heard from around the capital.
JIM MILLINGTON, TAVISTOCK SQUARE
There's a bus, formerly a double-decker bus outside the BMA building and clearly destroyed by a bomb. And there are at least one or two fatalities laid out on the pavement.
It must have been on the bus because the top deck is destroyed and what's below is not destroyed. It was a bomb on the top deck of a bus.
GREG NOONAN, LONDON
I just cycled in from Lewisham to Liverpool St and the amount of people out on the streets now is incredible.
It looks serious as all the emergency services and people around the roadblocks north of the river were very serious indeed.
ANDY ABERNATHY, LONDON
It was a train on the Piccadilly line between King's Cross and Russell Square and literally it was just a very loud bang. The train derailed.
There was smoke everywhere. There was no fire but the smoke was quite oppressive.
There were a lot of serious injuries down there as well. A lot of serious head injuries.
A guy by me thought he was going to die, I'm hoping he got out ok.
CHRISTINA LAWRENCE, KING'S CROSS
There was a loud bang in the tunnel and the train just stopped and all of a sudden it was filled with black, gassy smoke and we couldn't breathe and it was stinging our eyes and the lights went out and it just took a while for people to get to us and it was very scary.
I thought we weren't going to get out because we couldn't get off the train.

Was that meant to be a joke? I think it could be a possibility. I would think they would rather have bombed a building full of government officials or something that would hurt the economy if it were terrorist attacks. Killing innocent people won't really slow England down too much. I mean the cricket was still on. As far as I'm aware (correct me if I'm wrong) but the blasts killed 2 and injured several. There was no enormous death toll. I just feel as though if it were terrorists they would have had better planning and if they were going go that extreme as to target 6 or 7 different locations in the one day (and that is pretty extreme), why wouldn't they go extreme with the explosions as well?
Perhaps if it was French patriots they thought a few explosions might put England on high terror alert and maybe they would get the games?

I'm living in London at the moment, got up this morning and at first there were reports of power surges in the tube blowing up 2 trains. Then reports of buses being bombed came in and they figured out that it was a series of bombs being detonated in a possible terrorist attack.
I think that a london branch of Al Queda (spelling?!) has claimed responsibility, but everyones a bit hesitant to start laying blame.
It all happened on the tube that I usually catch to work, and at the time I travel. I would have been in the middle of it if I had't decided to be a tight arse and go in late today (tickets after 9:30 are cheaper (~;
So I had a day off and watched TV.
Estimates are of 45 people dead (33 confirmed) and hundreds wounded. Victims have been interviewed on TV and there's mobile phone video footage being shown from inside one of the train carriages.
I went for a walk at about 2pm- 5 hours after the attack and it was if nothing had happened, people were just going about their business. I live in Acton -10 mins tube ride to the city. The city streets are pretty dead though, everyone left and walked home.
The people here are really cool, no mass hysteria, everyone just did what they had to do.
The tube will be up and running except for Kings Cross later this evening.
Should I take it to work tomorrow?..

Still a bit crazy over here,
Victoria station has just been evacuated, there's been further interviews with victims on TV.
Was sitting in another room but I think the news was saying the group responsible are claiming this is the start of an 'invasion' and that Denmark and Italy are also on the list.
No mention of Perth.

True, but it's hard to figure out what's going on in the tube at the best of times. I'm not sure, but maybe the explosion and derailment caused a surge? The live rail may have been damaged.

i hate those fucking chicken shits that blow up innocent people to prove that they're pissed off, alot of people here are pissed off with some things, yet the thought doesnt even pop into our minds.
I heard once that the Quran does allow jihad and all the war that they're doing, but disallows the true muslims to kill innocent people and women/children during the jihad. Seems like they only use the parts they want out of their religion and ignore the rest
RIP to all the people killed and best of luck to those recovering
Hope all terrorists die of gonnorhea

yeah i reckon Sydney/Canberra would be most likely (sorry southerners) but yeah lets hope not.
Most of my Gf's family is over there. on was a few blocks and spent the rest of the finding people in the building for worried loved ones (they are on reception)
But it seems they all were fine, which is a good thing to hear.
I am a bit sick of the media though. i mean it is great that they bring us the latest happenings but sometimes i wish they would at least give some respect and room for people to realise what just happened instead of jumping into interviews.

how many people die in africa from polluted drinking water/disease/war........
400,000 children under 5y.o die every year in india from drinking contaminated water - have you ever heard western media give it any coverage in the news????
middle aged businessmen going to work - and for the first time in their safe little lives they face some shit.....boo hoo...
average life expectancy in mozambique is 37!!! - yeah let me guess they deserve it!!

haha.. the way you said it, sounds like the outbreak of SARS, how many people die? couple of thousands, but how many people get killed by influenza? millions...
and the "speed kills" problem, how many get killed each year? couple hundreds, how many people get fined? hundreds of thousands, how many get killed by other means? thousands and thousands...
the media doesn't provide news, they provide what they want you to hear! Free media? Yeah right!

Interesting that your signature talks about shades of grey, yet your views are so black and white.
I don't disagree that hundreds of thousands of children dying in the third world is a very bad thing, but hey it happens every day, therefore it lacks the fundamental element of news, ie it isn't new (this i am not arguing is morally correct, but it is by definition technically correct.).
The problems with the third world is systemic and there are many people trying to address the problem with varying levels of success. I'm pretty sure that (almost) everyone in the world is saddened by what happens.
The difference with the London terror attacks is that it stems from evil. I am sorry but anyway you look at it these acts are evil. No religion I know of condones a violent attack on a civilian population. Then there is the fact that this is something new and therefore qualifies as news.
You obviously can't believe in what you say too much otherwise you would have donated your computer or the money you spent on it to the cause, you are a capitalist pig just like the rest of us. Yet you will be happy to blame the politicians if/when we get attacked and it was your leg blown off and your parents killed...
We cannot simply let evil reign supreme, if we do nothing they win, if we allow it to spread racial hatred they win, if we bow down they win, and I for one say hunt the mother fuckers down and give them what is coming to them! Let them know they will soon face the judgment of their god(s) in the afterlife.
I know there will be consequences of this line of action, but hey i think it is worth it in order for me to bring my (hypothetical) children up in a free world.

well said, but how do you achieve that? How should a free world be like? Do you achieve that by going into a war? A war based on a lie? What really is the truth? Who can you trust? Government? Media? And is the states what you call a free world? Is it really a free world? Can you ever have a free world? But I guess that doesn't matter, as long as every little citizen *thinks* they live in a free world, the rest doesn't matter...
