what axle casing for ae86 LSD? Tue, 12 July 2005 10:37 Go to next message
Hi all great website,
just after some info.
bought an LSD unit from an ae86 4age last week, had intended to put it in my mk 2 escort that i have fitted with a gm calibra 2.0 16v redtop.
however have found the diff is to short bearing to bearing to sit in my axle case properly and the escort half shafts splines are different to the diffs internal splines.
has anyone fitted this diff to another axle casing such as corona/crown,auz ae86 sprinter or rwd 4dr dx corolla?? anything readilly available really , if needed be, i can cut it down to fit my escort and change ythe stud pattern,
any info appreciated
thanks in advance

are you sure the diff centre would go straight into one of those axles you mentioned i want to be sure before i buy one, were the t18 celica not mostly front wheel drive bar thegt4?
what about fitting it to a corona or rwd corolla sedan axle.
some one must havedone this.
thanks for your advice bud, still not overly clear mind.

thanks for the info so t18 is rwd corolla, the t18 pic i found was of a coupe one around the same year as the 4 dr dx corolla would these use the same diff and casing?, those 4 dr sedans are common as muc be handy,

sexy 16 sir , small world eh. havent seen a burgundy rwd cam like that since i left in jan. i searched everywere for redtops, found 2 and one is sold, theres an engine for one in just commodore spares, i bought a full car for the engine, and got some twin del ortos.
so iv established the old ra40 celica and t18 corolla
any more info on this diff guys,

t18's are all 2 door hatches
fairly common and dirt cheap also

doubt the 4dr's have the right diff, probably a borg warner or s series which you dont want
