Suggestions for KE 55 Wed, 20 July 2005 04:32 Go to next message
I'm opening to any suggestions that will support my budget.
I've got about $3000 to spend on Engine and Gearbox conversion my new baby.
I'm not going for huge power or anything like that. Something very reliable with a little get up and go when I call for it.
non turbo.

You can say I'm wrong (I'm open to anything) I was thinking of getting a stock 4AGE 100Kw model with the stock 5 speed. Reliable and easy to work on...

Any peice of advice would be greatly appreciated

18R-G
4A-GE 16v
4A-GE 20v (pushing it for budget)
3S-GE (again with the budget)
CA18DE (not sure on prices, but these would have to be pretty cheap right?)
SR20DE (probably over budget)
12A atmo
13B atmo? (not sure about the legalities of this one, or if the price would be prohibitive)

Bare in mind I've no idea how easy or well any of these would fit, they're just all smallish rwd non turbo engines. A budget of $3000 will make any conversion difficult, unless you're doing pretty much everything your self.

My GF's oldman has everything I need as far as putting it all in goes. Damned engineers. Thanks for the advice...
I'll probably end up with a 20V front Cut and work my way from there.

2tg with a 3t crank, bore it to 89mm and put 45's on it!
You'll have money left over for a better dif and some brakes.

if you are just looking for better, but cheap.. i would suggest a 4AFE. not quite as powerful as the 4AG, but still fuel injected, and probably more torquey in the midrange, making for a very nice all around car.. either way tho, 4A injected is nicest way to go. T seires, heavy, older.... 4AFE, nobody wants them cos they aren't fully sik Razz

how much work would it be to put the 4af? Haven't heard much on that conversion, would it be any different? And what about a 3t?
Thanks
Troy
