Why waste your money on a wanky name-brand system? If you want something quiet that's easy, just go to any exhaust shop and they'll install some nice big mufflers for you.

I have done a complete exhaust system with extractors and everything from liverpool exhaust on my gti - it sounded like a wrx and performed like crap, the exhaust was soo loud that i got defect on the second day, going to westfields. and to answer to your question, they make then out of titanium

the quiets is not a word maybe you should read your post, for starters these are jap exhaust meaning they are not built to meet aus noise reg so neither of them will probably pass, comprenday, plus if you want titanium, why not just pay an expert to build a custom mandrel bent system out of 304 stainless steel. It'll be quiet and probably produce more power too. Oh and catbacks do fuckall so unless you already have extractors etc i wouldn't bother.

whats the point of putting a performance exhaust on car if your going to take away from the performance by putting mufflers and that on it. dont these restrict air flow witch is opposite to what a performance exhaust does??

I know a mate who knows this exhaust guy and he says titanium gives 50kw more powa! Also he said you should have it polished inside and out so its smoother and flows more. This will be the best! Dunno if it will be more quiet though.

titanium is great stuff for exhausts on so many levels, but it is far to expensive to be worth it. you could probably turbo your car for the price of a titanium exhaust system.

use stainless if you are serious about it.

as for your question, get a stock one, or get a new hobby.

did you consider asking the muffler shop to actually fit a muffler that reduces the loudness of your overpriced exhaust system?

but ... casting aside all seriousness - fuck it, i'm with shane - bring dem holes!

thats crap, i work with platinum every day.. i have about 2 grands worth sitting on my shelf at uni... and sure as hell there aint enough to make an exhaust out of Razz
anyway, platinum is farkin soft as, the oxide may start to vapourise at dump pipe temps, and if anything you ould want to look at nickel based superalloys with a platinum-modified aluminium coating if anything...

fwiw, the LEGALIS-R exhausts seem to be the "yahoo auction special".. ie you know all the crap they try and flog off on ebay in Aus? like that Razz

most japanese exhausts are loud because they are non-restrictive, but some sound ok.... stock will always be quieter, but maybe you should consider a TRD exhaust (serious) compared to the other name brand bits... the jap exhausts sound loud even on turbo cars.. anyway...

FWIW the AE86'S i see around here ALL sound like a kitten farting in a milo tin... farkin terrible...

either way, you are looking at around. what.. $2-5K or more for titanium (whole exhuast.. not just the tip Razz or just the muffler... many f the titanium thingies are just the muffler)

s'anyway titanium is more than half the weight of steel (4.7vs 7.8?), costs 10-20 times as much (maybe 2-5 times more expensive than stainless) and the weight saving on a full exhaust system must be at least 5-6kg

here you go...

man, I'm mising your contributions GT - how long left till you're off probation?

and bubbles - well, first of all you're an idiot. I don't know where you got the idea for a titaniumn exhaust.. maybe you saw the mclaren F1 had one (increnellum tiutanium anyway)? Just remember that car cost about AUD$2mil. There is a reason most race cars and rally cars and car enthusiasts use stainless. It weighs in about 6 kgs more, and saves you generally over $3k.

You're suggesting buying a cat-back, so it seems you don't really care about performance to begin with (because if you just upgrade engine-cat you'll see more gains). that $3k you save when you just get a stainless exahaust you could spend on weight reduction and save more than the 6kgs the exhaust would save you. Or if you insist on being obsessive, get aluminium. Very light, but doesn't like heat too much.. but for the saving on titanium, you can just replace the exhaust when you bust it.

and as for noise... go to an exhaust shop. ask for a 2" or 2 1/4" exhaust with a high flow cat, resonator and an oval muffler at the back. no it won't look pretty, but it keeps the noise down.

with all these cannons around these days what ever happened to the mischevious days of putting a potatoe up someones muffler... now days one would have to carry a good sized cantalope to try and stuff in there.

does putting a cannon on really do that much to the performance, my celica (with back muffler taken out) i think sounds better with a more high pitched growl sounds alot better to me then most cars i hear with cannons

thats just my opion but... not sure how you'd go aboot putting a quiet exhaust on with out going stock

well, after recent episodes of Bubbles intelligence, reading this thread again, and having to sit in a car with a fucking Fujitsubo legalisR exhaust for 4 hrs..... i can say Bubbles, you are a complete idiot...

why you would want one of thes exhausts is completely and utterly beyond me. you seem incapable of researching these qustions before asking, have no common sense (i guess that goes with your "faith") adn you would have to be a complete idiot to want to put on either of these exhausts..

then again, if it's in D1, it must be fooly sik

I think the best way to get a good sound is to just run 1 turbo style muffler (oval with offset inlet/outlet) Makes for a more meaty sounding exhaust on a naturaly asperated motor.
Ever noticed naturaly asperated motors almost always sound "Farty" with "Can" style Mufflers,,Change it to a turbo style muffler and you will have a meaty sounding car Cool
I have done this to my 2 CE lancers(Tried 3 different mufflers on them) and now my old beatup 93 Hilux 22r, The hilux sounds more like a hot "Old School" Gemini!. All it has is extractors, then 2 1/4" engine pipe to Muffler. Then to get some nice tone, a 2 1/2" tailpipe! (No Cat, not fitted by factory, not fitted by me!) Razz
Keep the cans for the turbo Supras/WRXs/Skylines.

who says posting in a thread after ONE MONTH is digging it up???

in the last week there have been acouple of 1 and 2 year old thread resurfacing....

and anyway, it was vaguely ontopic as i had firsthand experience with the particular exhaust in question (beating my brains out with it's drone in a fooly sik Toyota Noah)

and it wasn't just to make fun of bubbles....

well buy one made out of magnesium then Evil or Very Mad

Lol, if no-one noticed, magnesium, when raised to a certain temperature over a naked flame, lights up to a brightness uncomprehendable to the human eye. It's what stun grenades (Flashbangs) are made out of. Get a misfiring system and go blinding your opponents!! Very Happy
