I have been replacing valve stem seals on a celica, i have lost a few collets, (they hold the valve spring to the valve)
I suspect the collets are the same across just about every toyota engine. (3sge is the engine i'm working on at the moment)
buaght some more from toyota, and sure enough lost a few more collets!! (they often shoot out when trying to compress the valve spring and get them back on). Also my last spare collet was in a plastic bag, and the wind had to blow it off the bench and the collet is just gone, can't find it.
Let me tell you, replacing the valve stem seals on the inlet side of a 3sge, without taking the head off or the engine out of the car is THE HARDEST BIGEGST PAIN IN THE ASS JOB YOUR EVER LIKELY TO COME UP AGAINST.
I know this is such a very long shot! but i'll pay $10 for each collet!!! i need to get this celica up and running asap.
will drive out and buy them from you today if possible!!

Your in Hobart? tommorow is Sunday, so i think i will just order some more thru toyota and finish off the celica on tuesday.
If your in Launceston or closer to Devonport i'll be there tommorow.
