w5* shifters Sun, 24 July 2005 12:52 Go to next message
hi all,

as i understand it w55/6/7/8/9 shifters are all interchangable (except the mkiv supras), but are the shifters themselves the same? for example, if i wanted a straight shifter instead of one with a bend at the base could i pilage a hilux or something?

thanks

As long as it's an internal shifter it should be a direct swap. All the ones I've seen so far definitely have been.

If you are talking about the actual shifter (that you hold in your hand Smile), then no. They all physically fit, but different models have slightly different bends in the stick.

example: From what I have seen (this surprised me) a SA63 shifter is slightly different to a MA61 shifter...they are pretty close tho...

Cheers

I think that's the whole idea though, ie he wants a shifter with a different bend in it. Smile

The MK4 (JZA80) ones hang off the back of the box a long way...not like the normal MA61, MA70 etc...

yep, looking for one without a bend as the bendy one will sit very close to the handbrake...not enough to be a problem, just annoying at times. knowing there are differences is encouraging, perhaps further investigation at the wreckers is in order Very Happy

thanks
