Just a simple question to the guys with a 1g-gte.
Are the twin turbos on a 1g less likely to destroy themself like the 1J-gte running good exhaust and 12/14psi?

It'll be fine. Many people have run 14psi all day every day.

The 1G-GTE turbos have steel wheels whereas the 1JZ-GTE are ceramic-coated.

As long as they aren't gen1's - usually 1st gen turbos are getting a bit old, and as I experienced, they like to blow oil/water seals with style!

I have some rebuilt gen2's now, they are doing well at 15psi Smile

If my memory is correct (and it often isn't Smile) they're about $200-$250.

And can be had for less if you are lucky Smile

Like with any used part, you wont know for sure if they're good until you have them in and running.

Hey KiRK have you done any serious internal modifications like forged pistions or porting the head etc. I am plannign on running some simmilar boost pressures but am not quite sure if it can take it. I am plannign on putting a coper head gasket, arp head studs, new intake, injectors etc. but havent planned to touch the block or anything.

My engines stock dude... except for slightly better turbos and ECU. Stradlater is running the high PSI... I'm only on 14psi at the moment.

Cheers,
Kirk
