Strange Smells

Today I pulled my injectors out of my GZE because I was pretty sure some of the seals on them where gone... anwyay, my intercooler is still top mounted and when I pulled it off I noticed a distinct smell of fuel in the intake pipe(pipe that sites directly above the fuel rail, just incase I named the pipe wrong) of the cooler, should I be worried??
There was a slight layer of fuel around the circumference of the pipe... I can't really figure out why there would be any fuel here at all... but then again I'm not sure how the system works..
Any advice/solution would be appreciated, thanks

It's probably as Allan said, the crankcase fumes. My pipes have a smear of oil in them due to this. Nothing to be majorly concerned about.
