MA61 Diff Question
|

G'day guys
i have recently stuffed the gears in my MA61 LSD diff, and obviously need a new one!!! but cause MA61 parts are almost impossible to find, i was wondering if its possible that an MX73 Cressida LSD be fitted...Has anyone done this before ? wat are some of the other options... the reason y i mention MX73 is due to its ratios and IRS... how would an SA63 or MA70 LSD go ?
Cheers Nick

You can use parts from any F series diff. SA63 = T series, MA70 = G series, so no they won't fit. MX73 = F series so that's fine, but it won't have an LSD centre.
If you want an LSD your only realistic options are to buy another MA61 diff or buy an aftermarket LSD centre (eg TrueTrac).

MX73 = Open.
If it's just your gears which are stuffed, get the crown and pinion from an MX73 (or any other F-series diff, IRS or not) and transfer them over to your LSD centre. The crown and pinion should always be used as a pair though, don't mix and match.

just something short term... just so i can drive to uni and back.. basically when i did it a loud bang happened and it just went clunk, now when u drive the car (driven once since to test) the car tends to rock aroudn a bit and it make sa loud CLUNK noise in a straight line it will sme times disappear, but going around corners it is very bad and shakes the car and Clunks around... i got a feeling its just the pinion gears but no one sells a gear set just the entire diff, plus its MX73 only.. is the bolt pattern on the MX73 the same as the MA61...

Pay $50 for an MX73 diff, and bolt that in.
Don't open it up, just bolt it in.

It does bolt up. I've done it many times.
Just make sure the top bracket is the same.
Try private wreckers too.
I have no idea whats available in Tas.

If the diff is the only think broken on your car, then the diff is the only thing you need.
Just like the diff on the right, but you dont need that extra bracket on top.

Who? I have delt with some of them and I'm sure most are dodgy and think of mega bucks when you want MA61 parts...
