ae82 cs probs Tue, 28 June 2005 10:35 Go to next message
i own a 1986 corolla cs hatch
the wheels that are fitted are 14s and im about to purchase 17s of a mate yet theres a plate around the shockabsorber and it sits just 3 maybe4 cm above the current wheels.
it goes around the whole shock and proturds out by 2cm over the wheel. what im afraid of is if i put the 17s on the plate will probably blok me from puttin the wheels on by the way the suspensions stock.
what my question is wat should i do to get the wheels to fit will i have to change the whole thing, does the 1986 rolla SX or GT have the same suspension.
any advice will help or if it costs to much to do should i just sell it for a 1987 gt corolla and work that.
my curent corolla is almost done its got a white interior and holden genisis blue paint.

what size profile are your tyres on the 14's. if you get low profile 17's you should be ok or just purchase a spacer plate for the disc/wheel

angle grind that strut base cup Razz

or lip the guards and get mags with the correct offset to fit the corolla and possibly run a 40 series low profile tyre

if you really like your ae82 and are going to keep it for awhile you could fit coilovers or get them made up,but i would just go 15 inch and lower it.i had 15's on my sx seca for a couple of years with 50 series tires in 195's and it was great, on the race track and street. if you really want the look of the 17's as it isnt going to do much for your handleing at all,you just get coilovers.
