identify this valve!

its the valve on the top of the plenum on my 5mge, its got a screw adjustemnt on the side of it and i have no idea what it is/where it goes...
any ideas? thanks

Its an idle up valve for gen1 5MGE's.
Not sure if its for aircon idle up only, or general idle up.

if that things an idle control valve, plumb it into ya intake after your filter somewhere.
you could always block it off and see if your car dies during idling

lol actually i have no idea, my mate had a 5m but im pretty sure it didnt have one of those funky things on it. its not a FPR is it?

almost - is idle-up for the aircon - unless you can provide a switched vacuum source (when the AC turns on) remove entirely and plug up whole with a screw-in brass bung.

I forgot that part, You can get one of these vacuum switching valves (VSV) from most wreckers, they are a pretty standard item.
They have them on all sorts of makes of car.
They're really common and shoud be cheap.

On mine ('82 model 5mge), the hose from that valve is connected to a barb that is immediately above the throttle shaft.

just block it up. you dont need it anyway.
