Short Shifter Design - Will it fit an R154? Tue, 02 August 2005 04:56 Go to next message
Hayo Gozymus!

During my 9 hours of daily surfing (i.e. work) I was browsing through ebay to find these short shifters, the seller claims they are for a JZA80 Six Speeder (V160 etc) but I have heard that the R154 shifter is the same, hence one of these puppies would fit into my R154...is this correct?

below is a photo Smile

Any help is much appreciated Smile

Caveat: R154 != late W58

Late W58 = V160... maybe? Look very similar anyway.

Ah yes, but us back here in the 1980's disregard the late W58 shifter.

Hmm..

maybe what is being said is that

R154 = W58 an R154 is similar to a W58
(maybe it should have been R154 == W58)

and that

R154 != V160 a R154 is not similar to a V160

its teh uLtIm8 in 1337 5p33|< i guess

If your gearbox has dodgy synchros, a quick shifter will exacerbate the problem. If your synchros are OK, a quick shifter will shorten their lifespan.

Frankly I don't see the point on a street car.
