keyless entry not working Mon, 01 August 2005 10:10 Go to next message
ive been having some issues with my keyless entry, immobiliser and alarm.
ill try to explain it so it makes sense.....

my car is fitted with a aftermarket Mongoose keyless entry and alarm kit. Before turning the key the unlock button on the keyless entry has to be pushed to deactivate the immobiliser otherwise the alarm would go off and u cant start the car.

last week this stopped happening and the car couldnt be immobilised. shortly after I realised this the keyless entry stopped working as well. it was fine because I could just use the key to lock and unlock the car as and the immobiliser wasnt working I could simply just start it with the key.

however, just this morning the immobiliser just decided to work activate again but the keyless entry didnt.

the problem I have is that the immobiliser is armed but I cant disarm it as the keyless entry isnt working and each time to try the alarm goes off

the batteries in the remote arent flat and I have a spare remote which also doesnt work.

ive check the wiring but its a mess and hard to follow but nothing seems loose or unattached. I havent messed with anything and dont understand whats going on.

ive heard that u can reprogram the keyless entry but I have no idea as the kit was installed before I got the car and have no instructions or diagrams. Its a mongoose MX40 Mkll Automatic Dual Immobiliser if it helps.

Anybody have a clue on whats going on?

thanks

I'm a New South Welshman actually... but anyway.
Mongoose are not exactly known for there quality. They regularly get faults after a few years, and it will probably be cheaper to replace it with a better quality unit than get it fixed.

You will get a warranty with a new one, and if you do fix whatever is wrong with the mongoose it will most probably stuff up again within 6 months as they inherantly do.
