confirmation of 20v info? Tue, 02 August 2005 04:18 Go to next message
Hey all,

can anyone confirm that:
vvt retards cam by 6deg
vvt affects intake cam only

also

rods from 100kw are the stronger set than silvertop, 100kw is the same as ze.

also, the blacktop quads that I bought.... measure up to 43mm... Im pretty sure that theyre silvertop not blacktop. Oh well, still only paid 250 for them!

Cheers mate, thought as much.

Did some calling around last night - stock 20v advances cam by 30deg at the crank, or 15deg at the cam. cuts in and advances at 4400 and retards back at 7000. not on the engine we're building it wont!

272deg exhuast, 264deg intake, 60thou forgies (or actually 82.5mm bore), 12:1, motec ignition system run by EMS ECU... fun stuff. Smile just wanted to make sure that the rods would stand up to it.

hoping for flywheel figures of 145+ft/pd at around 5k and 190+hp at 8k... and still have it reliable.

now its time to start playing with the dyno program! woohoo! Smile then to buy all the fun go fast bits, get it machined, get it built and then to the divorce court! ha ha!

ae92 100kw/GZE rods are the same as each other

the AE92 rods are different to the AE101 20V/GZE rods. The AE101 20V and GZE rods are the same as each other.

Yeah the blacktop quads are closer to 50mm inside diameter. I forget exactly, I'll have to check one day.

Even the silvertop ones I thought were more like 45mm.

There were actually two slightly different versions of the silvertop. I think the earlier one advanced the cam at 4400.
But the one after advanced it at 2000rpm or less, and largly depended on throttle position (as I found with mine).

Sounds like a pretty wicked na engine your building up - good luck with it.

Whats 145+ft/pd in Newton metres?

Ok, thats a pretty healthy torque increase then for a 20v at 5krpm, given that they make 165nm at ~5500 normally.
