Takes a little work with eucalyptus oil and wax/grease remover, but you'll get there eventually. Give it a good cut and polish too, and there shouldnt be too much difference in the paint. Here's what mine looked like, the paint on the doors is all the original 1987 stuff too!

Yeah I thought of that, I had planned to replace the chrome strips in the bumpers with red ones, or just paint them, but in the end I couldn't be arsed Smile It came out pretty good none the less.

Haha thanks mate, I loved that car, sold it to someone I know so its never too far away! Don't think he looks after it as well as I did tho, think he already wants to get rid of it less than a year later!

To clean off the gak under the plastic strips use a citrus cleaner as it will get rid of the stuff without affecting the paint. I use one called De-Solv-It. Which you can get at any Bunnings

Those decals came off as a result of all the degreaser+car wash high pressure hose! Didnt mean for it, but they looked shit anyway

Yeah on second thought, door strips should go. Then you're left with those ugly recesses down the side. I reckon smoothing out the panels with bog would be winnar:

If you fill the waistline with bog, you make the car look more upright and less sleek. Theres a good reason car designers put them there. It might look ok in a photo, but in real life the door panels will look huge.
