2s in an 86 Corona auto Tue, 09 August 2005 12:32 Go to next message
The 2s is eating fuel and oil and is way old and needs to go. What can I swap it with?

I don't need heaps of power, I am basically looking for an EFI engine with the same or slightly more power to throw in and mate to a 5 speed. A 1.6 or 1.8 with the same power would be good. Going for a miser car.

If you can source an SA63 with an Automatic you might be able to get away with converting the engine, just that there might be minor wiring for the automatic overdrive and a change of the bottom of the shifter as the SA63 has an overdrive button where the ST141 doesn't have anything for the button. Though I can be wrong, any correct me on this?

What will I find that in? I am going to transplant in a manual so overdrive etc won't matter.

What is a strong 1l – 1.8l EFI motor suitable for forced induction? What series is interchangeable with the 2s? Will I have to find a _s-t or something like that? That will probably be a good mix of power and economy.

Find yourself a wrecked manual RT142 Corona with a 22RE in it.

Swap everything over.

You need to get it checked

Franks 21RC uses less than that.

Indeed, mine has even dipped down to 8.9l/100km on a massive highway run.

the lowest i have seen is 10.5L driving to goulburn, sitting on 100kmph per hour at 2.4krpm.
The motor likes oil but the afr and dyno indicate that otherwise it is a ok i think the valve stem seals are gone, but so will the car in 6 months time so i can't be bothered fixing it.

The 22RE is a 2.4l though isn't it? I want 1.6 or 1.8.
