Broken promises Thu, 11 August 2005 05:28 Go to next message
Hey guys alittle stirred that My Car is NOT READY yet once again.

The motor blew. got a seconhand ct26, Picked up the car and it had no boost. Got them to install a CT20b which they sourced from a 205GT4. this turbo wasn't boosting very much at all. only 3psi. So I asked if I could have my old turbo back but it was part of an exchange. So I had to buy another CT26 as I had no other option.

Took this one to the turboshop to get rebuilt

It's approaching 4 Weeks for a turbo rebuild (fitted) Dropped it off last month on the 15th of july.

I went ahead with it as they said 3 working day turn around. To be Diagnosed the next day saturday and be installed tues/wed.

1 Week later the turbo was finally pulled apart. Another week passed and he only started working on it.

The car would be ready saturday. Monday came and rang up. The mechanic busted his knee. Should be installed on Tuesday. Rang up 5pm tuesday He was just machining the housing and should be installed wednesday. Went to the workshop closed and no answer on work # and mobile #.

Today I rang up and was told "it's ready it should be ready to pick up today" drove past again just then. time is now 3:30PM
and the car is still the same as it was weeks ago.

Now I dont mind if he just told me the truth all along instead of G'ing me up in anticipation. But I haven't been able to get to work as its my daily driver. I have given an ultimatim that I need the car as of this week due to the Warranty only being 30days on the engine So I want to be able to diagnose it As I have been screwed around by that workshop with dud turbos.

What am I todo? I've been stressing all day As I haven't been to work and im not rostered till next week, My budget is going thin as I have bills to pay. This guy just keeps lying.

I'd love to install the turbo myself but I dont have much knowledge or tools at home.

If you want something done right do it yourself.

Nearly every workshop I have taken my car to has stuffed up in one way or other... it probably happens to most people but then most people probably don't pay as much attention to their cars as I do.

A good set of spanners and sockets costs a couple of hundred bucks, a few other basic needed odds and ends and you're looking at about $500. Now think how quickly you'll save $500 of labour by doing it yourself.

Sure it can be a bitch working on your car, but you learn lots and you know it's been done right (or at least know exactly what's been done dodgily)

Do it

only problem i'd have with going to somewhere like department of fair trading... the work shop then cracks the shits after getting told off and decided to stick everything back in your car with a bit chewing gum and roll of ducktape

garenteed if you start complaining the over quality of the places work on your car is going to slip. but still, getting them in shit my throw there arse's into gear

Seriously dude, do you read anything before you submit it!? We have a spell checker on these forums as well. Usually I'd let it slide but that was stuffed.

As for the issue at hand, if they don't get it done, for sure I'd be going to Fair Trading or the like. Most places aren't stupid enough to bodge it up if you complain about them, because that'll only make it worse for them.

bugger 'em

i'd recommend you get your car back from place quick-smart before any further work is done and only pay for labour and parts consumed to date - but then deduct cost of towing car back home.

make it plainly obvious your not happy with the service, you're not wasting any more time with them, they've lost you for good as a customer and you'll be telling every other car owner to go elsewhere for service.

it wont solve your problem of incomplete car, but you as the customer will have taken control of the situation and the workshop will not make any more profit out of you.

Don't give them another opportunity to bullshit you.

Businesses need trade and profit - withdraw it and you cause as much pain to them as they do to you.

Plus you then get to beg and grovel here for folks to help you put your car back together.

i dont know how u guys do it, but there is no way that i could let sum dick that has put my car in worse condition as it was before i gave it to em, n still pay for it.

if i were in ur situation, i would stop given em money, jus subtly put the money off. and get ur car off em asap. then gtfo of there. loose as little as possible. once ur in the clear and they cant go slipping bolts into ur throttle body, then argue ur head off. get bak wat u can. make it out that ur happy to bring ur car bak at a later date if they can give bak sumfin.

make sure that u stop anyone u know from goin there if u can without gettin screwed. less ofcourse u dun like em Razz or they owe u money, u can use this place for revenge purposes.

i reacon, aslong as u can get em f**ked without them knowing it was u that did it its all sweet. cause remember they know ur car, ur adress, hot to get in n out of ur car. if they want they can do the dodgy. keeping in mind they are dodgy as it is. Razz

jus my 2c. ur really in a pickle.

Mate, I don't even know you, but as I've done with other Toymodders in the past without knowing them either, I'm willing to help you fit the turbo. I hate seeing people getting ripped off!!!

Get your car out of there!

I was thinking the same thing. lol.

Personaly, I'd take my car back right away. Be nice about it, just say you want to fix it yourself, or that you have a mate who'll do it for free/cheap. Then as soon as it's back in your possession send a formal complaint to the owner (don't be nice about it), and contact consumer affairs... just don't piss them off while they have your car.

Then beg on here for someone to help you. lol.

Use away. Sometimes i think that the thing that keeps me on the right side of the knife edge that teeters on criminality is that I wouldn't enjoy it. not because I'd be afraid of getting caught but because I'd be afraid of not.
