87 MR-2 FOR SALE
|
Thu, 06 January 2005 02:17
|
|
Due to a baby on the way (July/August) must sell ONE of my 87 MR2s. Dont want to see either of them out of the garage but sanity must prevail !
Both are Gun Metal, Australian complied and in excellent condition.
[img=http://img316.imageshack.us/img316/3586/noset onose5ul.jpg]
BTW it has the stock 14x6 tear drop wheels on it at the moment not the 15x7s as pictured
The naturally aspirated one i have owned for 15 years and is part of the family. its always been garaged, properly serviced, and completely reliable. The interior is perfect and the painwork is in excellent condition for an 18 year old car as its always been washed and waxed etc
Rego till December 24
Its pretty stock except for
Lowered Kmac springs about 40mm lower and 30 % firmer
Adjustable konis
bit of an exhaust
tinted windows
Remote Alarm with auto windows up
Its done about 150000km
And Supercharged one.
Note these pics were taken with the superlow springs the Eibachs are about 20mm higher in the front and about 30mm higher in the rear.
its a bit more modified !!
First some history, most of the mods were done around 98 in Melbourn by Racecraft industries for the fastidious second owner, with reciepts for well over 13 grand.
I have only owned it about 10 months, it has the following:
94 4AGZE from a Levin with small SC pulley and coil packs
HKS extractors and Cams and valve springs
Oversized valve kit
Ported and flow tested heads
175 Nevo pulley
Aftermarket intercooler located under gearbox,
HPC coated IC pipes
2 1/2 exhaust complete system with high flow cat
Motec M4 programmable ECU with Data logging, dynod at 139 kw
cromolly drive shafts
LSD
high pressure clutch
Eibach pro Kit springs about 30mm lower
Adjustable konis
16x7 chrome Starform wheels 36mm offset
215 45 16 bridgestone and 225 45 16 Yokohama AVS
Front and rear (aftermarket) strut braces
tinted windows
Evo 3 boot spoiler
Pioneer CD and Equaliser
Personal Sports steering wheel
Autometer Sport Comp Boost Gauge
Black Widow Remote alarm, with immobilser and motion sensor
Will be sorry to see either of them go but my loss is your gain
Looking for 7K and 16k respectively.
anyone wanting further info post it here or email me scottd@enertecair.com.au
WILL POST UP SOME MORE PICS SOON
PLEASE NOTE THIS HAS BEEN UPDATED FROM ORIGINAL POST

Doods,
How about a bit of interest out there !!!
Otherwise one of these cars will become a track only car, race harness, race tyres, maybe a full cage !
The possibilities are endless.

Dood,
Its a pretty strong engine and had quite a bit of money spent on it both by me and a previous owner, it really hauls and loves to rev !!. Just remeber every dyno is different and ambient temps etc all alter power figures.
What have you done to yours and what power and torque did yours make ??

I wouldn't suggest a rav 4 if you want to keep your family safe.
I remember on every crash test some indepentent (sp)body did the fuel tank got ripped open by the rear drive shaft.

Dood,
Appreciate the comment about safety, i have never heard about this !! any suggestions where i can get some hard data on this subject ?
What would you suggest for this kind of transport ?
My wife likes the RAV it has the space we need and she likes the way it drives (obviously not as nice as the MR-2) and easy to park etc
Any help appreciated.

Even though i love my toyota's i'd stay clear of the rav4's aswell.
HKS computer, K&N filter in boot, custom exhaust, Cusco pulley, cams of some sort. Possibly other stuff but thats all i know.

My parents have owned a rav4 since 98. They arent too bad. Quite a stable car to drive on bituman and dirt but they do tend to understeer when pushed leading into body roll when corrected. Its done over 130,000 since new and we havent had a single problem with it. If you plan to tow shit with it though I would highly sugest getting a heavier duty clutch cause the stock ones are absolutely shit. However I dont know if these problems have been fixed in the newer models.
Anyway free bump and good luck with the sale!
Cheers André

I too would like some proof of these claims, pretty serious stuff !!
Appreciate your comments Andree, Ravs are certainainly NOT circuit racers (not in stock mode anyway).
Clown Your GZE sounds good how much power did it make ???? and why would you stay clear of the RAVS ???

is it only the supercharged mr2's that have them air vent thingys on the side?
i like the 4agze one, and 125kw atw would make that thing HAMMER. very nice.
although 14k is almost enough for a sw20.
GL with the sale. congratulation on the baby! hole in one!

Both NA and SC have the vents on the side but its only on the right hand side.
It actually hammers even harder since that original post as its now 139 kw at the wheels, check the AW11Anon thread for the dyno sheet.
You may be right about the $ on the SW20 but they are completely different cars and the SC has had over 20k poured into it.
As for the hole in one.....nice

Nice cars mate,
But yeh, I wouldnt' suggets a Rav 4 as well as I use to own a 97 model but it kida rolled up Mount Glorious. Thus, I must remember that the car is taller and definetly cant handle fast corners . What was I ever thinking about.
The back seats are also uncomfortable as well, a bit stiff. Also, it might look big but its really not.
If you want a car like a Rav 4 i suggest buying an actual 4wd instead of the wanabes (Rav 4 types).
Oh, Subaru Foresters are ok, my cousin owns one and he has a kid as well and I haven't seen him complain about the car.
But goodluck on the sales and grats on the kid!

Thank,
But how did you do that to the RAV ?
We have actually allready purchased a 2002 cruiser its very nice but it certainly is NO sports car.
To be honest even tho both the AW11s are 18 years old they are in better condition and IMO are built a lot better.
The Rav is for the missus and she loves it ! easy to get in and out of , easy to park and see out of basically its a very functional car, it wont be going off road except for along some fire trails etc. If its even half as reliable as any Toyotas i have owned i wont be complaining. In 18 years of driving they have never let me down

OK,
Well it looks like there is heaps more interest now that when i originally posted this thread.
Also some things have changed so i will have to update the info.
Wont do it here but will edit original post and hope to have some more pics and answer everyones questions there rather than individually.
Sorry to muck anyone around but the basic story is that its crazy to have both these cars, even tho i enjoy them both so much, so the only way i can decide on which one to sell is offer both and see which ever one goes first. So if you are keen and enthusiastic you better get in quick before i change my mind
I have also revised the prices to reflect this and due to the fact that both cars have had $$$$$$$$$ spent

no rust to speak of
Engine is in excellent condition, runs perfectly, it is using a bit of oil around 200ml every 5000ks. Which is a lot less that a holden Gen 3 engine !!!! can still get 400 plus ks from 30 odd litres without any trouble at all.
gearbox is perfect, again its always been looked after it runs Castrol Syntrax synthetic oil (as does the supercharged car).
All the syncros are fine and it always shifts smoothly.
Its never been flat changed or abused and gets heal toe down changes.
hope this helps

Heh, yeh lets not forget that the main reason for installing aftermarket ECU's is because of engine mods that make running stock management systems impossible.

So the poor bloke pulls the fancy cams, sources some stockies ( changes the head to stock so he runs stock valves (forget about the porting too!) and then how is he better off than he was before in selling of parts, once you index into it the time spent stuffing around? It's all just theoretical BS as this is a FS post not a Tech post.

Make me an offer or something !!!!
These are both great cars.
The other option is to buy a 50% share we can strip out the interior put a cage in it etc and to some tarmac race / rallies ?
I dont know any other suggestions ???
i just dont want to see either one of them out of the garage and in the street.

Well you could always do what i did when i got my last one !!
That was get a $100 ticket from Virgin or the like and drive it home
We drove ours from Melbourne to Sydney in one day. Got down there at about 8.00 took the car for a spin, did the paperwork and and drove home.........simple.
To be honest it was a long day, very much the adventure but you could take two days from Brissy.
Funny we sold another car not long after that to a guy in melbourne and he did the same.
Would be keen to see some pics of your other car.
it seems the AW11s are very addictive. So many owners have two or more or have owned numerous
