The smaller diameter starter from the 20v engine needs a little alteration to it's mounting housing to bolt up. The earlier model larger diam. starter from 16v engine bolts straight up. So you could use either.I may have one of each here if you are stuck for one.

Yes. That's why you alter the mounting housing to enable fitment. The 16v starter is considerably larger & heavier than the little 20v one. I'd consider the 20v starter to be a better unit.
