Clutch Swapping Sun, 14 August 2005 10:58 Go to next message
Hey guys,

My mum owns a 1990 Toyota Tarago RV sports and I fried the clutch in it.

I have ordered the clutch in and me and my friend are going to put in the clutch and I was wondering does anyone know how to put a clutch into a Tarago.

I have no idea but I have done gearbox stuff before would it be the same thing swapping a clutch over as it would be in a regular car?

Cheers,
Kendall

If you have to ask a question like that, I suggest you're not the man (and I use the word loosely) for the job. Instead of taking the risk of fucking up Mum's van even worse, bite the bullet and take it to a mechanic!

I know what I am doing, because I have done it before.

I was wondering if a van was any more difficult to swap the clutch in than a regular car.

My friends and I think it is easier though because the gearbox basically falls out.

Anyway if I need help I have two friends who are going to help me put it in today!!!

Cheers anyway,

But i ain't a noob Wink

Thats nice, but if you know what you are doing, why bother asking... Razz

The fact that you just turned 17 didn't help you much in acquiring you 'not a noob' status either Smile

Best of luck with it master mechanic Smile

Cheers
Wilbo

There are the pictures of the removed clutch and gearbox. As you can see the clutch is COMPLETELY stuffed. The new one I picked up for $135. Cheers for the luck, it's all good now though...I will tell you how she runs tomorrow

...so i have never posted a photo on a forum...
You guys must be nerds or something and live on your computers where as I actually go out and try things that I have never done and don't know how to do...

At least I got the clutch changed over and got everything changed over.

The only horrible thing is putting the gearbox back on because it is like heaps hard to line the cenre of the clutch up with the centre of teh gearbox!

I have asked around and even with some tool it is heaps hard...so if any of you guys can do it...feel free to show me pictures...or would you rather pay people out via computers because your crap with cars???

You should have made yourself up an alignment tool. I feel it wouldn't of been hard with teh tool.

Guess I didn't need your help after all.

You never gave me advice anyway.
