4AGE mk1, mk2 or mk3 crank shaft ?? Help please Tue, 16 August 2005 11:02 Go to next message
Hi,

Iam trying to buy some new big end bearings and toyota is telling me that there is a mk1, mk2 and a mk3 crank shaft. they say that it will be stamped on the crank. I can find the number 11 which i am thinking is meant to be, II (mk2).

can someone help me please? I am needing to order the bearings from estern states (i'm in perth).

Thanks,

Ty

there are only 2 sizes, 40mm and 42mm. the early 4age's had the 40mm which changed to the larger 42mm in late 87 (4age and 4agze).
the ACL part number should be 4B1780.?? for 42mm and 4B1710.?? for the 40mm. (?? = std, or oversize)

I think he's talking about the 3 different clearance types of bearings for the conrods. If you go with the ACL bearings, the one size fits all 3 clearance types.

FWIW, the main bearings actually have 5 different types of bearings. Get yourself a 4age rebuild manual... you'll need it.

Eddie.
