I'd put my money on the slightly more torquey 3S-GE. I think at the end of the day with engines that close the driver would have a lot to do with it....

firstly, is this in a straight line, or some twisties thrown in?
i reckon it'd be a pretty close drag, but the celica would win in corners

a stock 100kw rolla sx hatch has on paper quicker acceleration than a stock 103kw celica I think

Doesn't the corolla weigh less anyway? But wouldn't be surprised if the corolla won in a straight line.

yeah, bit less, 100kg maybe?
but the torque of the 3sge might pull through (no pun intended )

i'm not too sure about the corners.. mainly the fact that the 3S is a much heavier engine and i think it would induce more understeer meh just my $0.02 and it all comesd down to the driver anyway.

well heres a trick for all yall !!!!
i jus so happen to have a CELICA 3S-GE GEN 1
and my mate jus happens to have a 1992 or so 100kw SECA !!!
and we jus happened to line up together the other night !!!!
well wasnt that interesting, we both have air filters, cannon's and my mates seca has a limited slip diff in it.
off the mark it was identical, both ripped it, even through to second gear, but he started to pull away in the latter parts of second, (only by maybe his rear door at mine) and yeh continued pretty even until that !!!!!
however i thought i was gonna get roasted !!!!
although when we had a rolling start in second gear ( low down rev's ) around a corner and both smashed it outta it, he won, but i do have the slower camry SV21 gearbox !!! as soon as it hit about 4500 he screamed (love the 4age sounds )
any more hectic 2F2F (2 fast 2 furious) style let us know !!!
nick.

Race my old car, only has full exhaust and k&n panel filter (standard airbox) and barry just ran 15.8 @ 86mph at wsid the other night,
How does that compare to the celicas with similar mods that have run there ?

They'd be exactly the same off a cliff... except the Celica is probably more aerodynamic and would have a higher terminal velocity, but thats' only if its a fairly substantial cliff.

i find if i need an ego boost i just race a fully loaded B-Double. i get lucky and beat them all the time, prob because there to busy double clutching, not that they use the clutch after taking off!i can usually beat them by atleast a car length up to 100km\h.

I'd say the Seca is probably heavier than the celica.

Definately depends on the driver. Twice in a row, the same ST162 couldn't pull more than a carlength on my AE102, which I think was disgraceful on his part
