hi all
me being a newb to the spontah scene, i thought i'd ask what the redline is for the 100kw 4age. i'm gathering its not 6000rpm (if i remember rightly) like the original adm tacho says, but is it the same as the jdm 86kw bigport dash? umm 7700rpm i think i saw?
cheers

100kw small port has a yellow line at 7200 then the redline at 7700 which is where it will bounce on the limiter

limited at 7700,
i need to do womething about mine, i thought it would be cool driving the tacho needle into the red, but it is a bit unnerving.

I would like to disagree, I hit 7700 less then 10 minutes ago in my car and it didn't hit the limiter
Maybe my limiter is broken!

Smallport with the stock computer is 8025 according to both the dash in my AE92, and the RSM.

My JDM bigport can go to 8000rpm with out the limiter cutting the fun, although I dont like taking it past 6000 G as it sounds horible avove that, )due to previous owners 8000 G daily habbits) and I dont wanna fuck the motor futher...until I can afford a new engine anyway..

does anyone know what the limiter is on the standard ae101 computers, i havnt hit mine yet and id like to avoid it if possible

Go on hit it... it'll love it.
I got 260k on my GE and it happily bounces the rev limiter in 1,2,3 gears. Just keep the oil fresh.
If it was THAT dangerous to hit the limiter Toyota would have set the limits lower.

wouldnt the limiter be set HIGHER if it was dangerous to hit hte limiter as apposed to a certain rpm?

there is confusion over what the ECU "rev limit" is on the 100kW 4age...... and i think i've worked it out.
MANY say 7700rpm
and some say 7200rpm
... both are correct. The 100kW ECU is like the silvertop 20v ecu in that if there is no "SPD" signal input to the ECU, it drops the rev limit to a "safer" level, thinking that you are 'free-revving' the engine
So those with conversions who have no SPD signal to the ECU have limit of 7200rpm

I believe this to be 100% correct.
My RWD Bigport has a rpm cut at 7200rpm (no speed signal yet)or there about's but i do believe JDM RWD Bigports go too 7750rpm.
Just keep going i say, when it feels like there is nothing left(usually valve bounce), change gears.
Cheers

yeah JDM 4ages will hit 8ish on the tacho easy.
and a 4age will break before it valve bounces!

about 7600 but if you can tell the diffrence between 7600 and 7700 your not watching watch you should be.ive buzzed mine a few times to over 10000rpm and it did it no harm, but its a case of living on bored time.

The post was originally about small ports, and they cut out somewhere between 8200 and 8400, thats what I have seen quoted somewhere in a manual but I can't find it.
Tomorow I'll post a video of what my tacho hits when it's bouncing off the limiter - then everyone can see proof that it's higher then 7700

Yep mine is 7700 BUT the dash tacho says a little over 8000.
Aftermarket tacho shows bang on 7700

lukass is correct there... the Toyota tachometers become pretty inaccurate over 6000rpm - i would only trust a good aftermarket tachometer or professional test equipment to "guage" your measurements.
I KNOW that the AE92 smallport ecu will rev cut at very close to 7200rpm with no SPD connected, tested with both a peak-hold DMM on frequency and an autoguage tachometer.
I have never properly tested a smallport ECU with the SPD signal connected.

For reference, my AE92 was limiting at 8025rpm as reported by the ApexiRSM, that was original wiring etc.

Yeah, I thought that standard tacho's were pretty inaccurate in the upper ranges but I've seen mine hit 8500, so that's almost 800rpm error. Surely there not that far out, maybe a few hundred at most.
but this might have something to do the speed sensor cause it was flat chat in third so you can guess how quick I was going...
