Fitting AE101 Headlights into AE102 Mon, 22 August 2005 08:56 Go to next message
i bought some AE101 headlights from a user of these forums (who bought them for his rolla but pranged the rolla before he got the lights)

I have an AE102 Corolla Seca, which as far as I'm aware they are same chasis as the AE101 (just a 7AFE instead of a 4AFE).

Now I went to install the headlights this afternoon, but there are a couple of minor differences.

These are the two headlights:

This is the new headlight, notice how the grill "clip" faces forwards:

To fix this, i guess I have two options; to get an AE101 Grill that uses those clips or build a custom grill. The new Headlight looks slightly more rounded on the inside, so I'm fairly sure I woun't be able to use the standard grill?

This is the base of the old headlight, notice the clip method:

This is the base of the new headlight, notice there isn't a clip but there is a buldge there.

This is the clip that the old headlight clips into:

I'm not sure how to fix this? I can unscrew the old clip but the metal tab is still in the road a bit, i could bend it down a bit I guess?

The final difference is the plugs:
The new headlights, seperate low beam and high beam:

The old headlights, combined low and high beam:

This should be easy enough to change, just snip the old plug and rewire with new plugs.

Have u tried fitting the new headlight insides and cover to your old headlight casing?

Should fix your mounting problems if it works...
