hmm today i was parked in maccas drive through, and i put the car into neutral (i have an autO ) as i waited.
when i gently pressed the accelerator, i heard a slight rattling noise. i thought 'wtf', so i tried again, and there it was again! damn rattling noise!
pressed a lil harder, and still there... pressed really hard, no noise...
put the car into drive, and accelerated slowly...the noise is still there! if i accelerate normally, it's there, but u can just hear it.. slow acceleration u can hear it well
makes the noise in park as well
what could it be? i initially thought loose exhaust pipe/system component somewhere... i haven't had a real gd look, but it sounds like under the car type noise, though i was in the car at the time and it cld be from anywhere
car runs absolutely fine. idles a bit rough for some reason, but it's done that for a while, and makes a 'tapping' noise occasionaly when i drive and in idle..doesn't do it in neutral or park...also idles fine in neutral and park
Spark plugs and leads have been changed recently, as has the fuel and air filter. Oil level is normal, and was changed about 5000km's ago.
1992 Toyota Corona ST190 1.8l
cant think of anything else that's relevant atm.

ok it's my catalytic convertor
i think the honeycomb inside has come apart
Now, my big problem is that some idiot who owned the car before me, has cut the exhaust pipe, and welded on the cat on one side...
So it needs to be welded back on one side, and the other side still has the flange.
How much would it cost to get all this done, and where can i get it done? A normal mechanic isn't going to be able to weld it i don't think
I'm in Perth btw
