I'm asking for information, for my brother in law. How hard would it be to put a 3TGTE into a KE30 'rolla ? Also, what car did the 3TGTE come out of ? Are they a good engine ? It's either the 3TGTE or a Rotor.

Usually will do suply and fit.

whatever...
turbo rotor, or V6 are NOT LEGAL in NSW...
so your only option is the 3T
go talk to an engineer first, they can tell you what is and isn't possible
and what else is required to make it legal

The rotor would be good for about 6 - 12 hours then you would need another motor! ha ha. Go the 3TGTE or a 4AGTE, easy to fit and will go hard and it will be legal.

spoken like a true person that has never owned a DECENT rotor. you go and buy a $2 rotor expect it to last as long as a $2 4age
im not sure about NSW but an n/a 12a would easily be legal in a ke30 in QLD. rotors are just as reliable for the same power output as a piston engine so long as u look after it. same goes for a piston...

Have a read of this. Should answer some of your questions. Also to be totally sure what you can and can't do it is probably best to speak to an engineer.
If I am correct the 3TGTE uses the same mounts as a 2tg so try searching for info on a 2tg into KE3x/5x. I think the 3TGTE came out in early celica's but I'm not certain. I think there was a KE30 with a 3TGTE in the "cars for sale" section a few weeks back. Might be worth checking out.
Good luck with it and let us know how he goes.

I spotted one on bosstcrusing. A wagon in QLD, looks like a very tidy fit into a corolla, he saw the car and wants to do a similar thing, but he's not sure if it's going to be a shitload of work to do and needing a lot of customised work meaning big $$$ or it's a pretty straight forward conversion. I told him, there is no such thing as a straight forward conversion. There is usually some bullshit that gets in the way.

which is why u should get a 3t crank, a bored 2t/3t block, a 2tg head, a custom exhaust manifold and a ct26 and go for it that way
