1j questions Tue, 23 August 2005 12:47 Go to next message
hi guys

couple of questions as i near the end of my conversion. does the 1j have a fuel regulator thats attached to the block before the fuel rail? or just the one at the end of the fuel rail.

In my wiring adventure what the hell is an 'A/C Amplifier' and how/does it need to be connected.

Cheers

The thing on the block before the fuel rail is the fuel filter not the pressure regulator. Only one FPR at end of rail.

No idea about the wiring but sounds stereo related to me Razz

The thing on the block is the pulsation dampner.

The pressure regulator is on the foward end of the rail as chris said.

A/C amplifier is attached to the air-conditioning circuit.

I wish that we had this wiring info back when I did a 1jz conversion!

ill get some pics up soon, we are swapping net providers so we are on dial up for two weeks but ill try get some broadband so i can post some pics. 1j isnt that hard fits easily. will shit on rb, guaranteed. and petes pipes from this forum can hook ya up with custom dumps to suit the commodore 1j.

Next question, the commodore has two pulsation dampners just like the one on the side of the block of the 1j, so i dont need the 1j one which i dont have anyway, cause the commodore ones will do the trick.

by the way if anyone has the line that connects to the fuel rail, i need it.

Are you sure those commodore ones will flow enough fuel? What size fitting do they have?

The line that connects to the fuel rail (stock) comes from the pulsation dampner, it has a banjo fitting either end. You can just got to a hose shop like enzed and get the correct fitting, that is banjo fitting with hose tail. Or I have a spare line a pulsation dampner ill sell to you. You still need another banjo hose tail fitting for the inlet to the dampner though.

Yeah you can. As I said before you will end up with a rubber line with a banjo fitting swaged on to either end.

I will sell it to you but then again you could also go to a hose shop and buy the same thing new.

I think it would be better if you ran the 1JZ dampner aswell.

yeah i had a look and the commo has one at the back and one at the front which came out with the motor so i need the dampner as well, only prob is that wreckers dont really wanna seperate it from the motor unfortunately.

the fuel line i just added some flexi hose that goes round the back of the motor and will eventually go into the dampner. (the vl might have slightly different fuel line as the motor was different), but u should just be able to add flexi hose and put it where u want. as for the exhaust 'petes pipes' from this forum has been working extremely hard for me to make me up dump pipes to fit as the space is tight, (he went to all the trouble of dummy fitting a 1j in a vh using my dimensions) he posted the dumps to me and i should get them back soon, and they should fit, they go down past the back of the motor, so then you just have to get an exhaust system made up as normal.
as i said earlier hard to put pics on dial up but will be up soon, let me know if ya got anymore questions.
good to see another 1j fan

the banjo fittings onb toyota motors are an odd size (ie metric Wink ) and may not be available from hose suppliers.. Enzed couldn't get them for me when i was putting 2S/3S filter to connect the 7KE rail with 4AG damper and ??? FPR..

most toyota fittings are the same, so go nick a hose off something at pickies, cut the rubber hose off CAREFULLY (no nicks or scratches) and get new hose crimped on.. easy.. Wink
