NSW RTA Sat, 27 August 2005 05:47 Go to next message
Hi,

I'm just wondering if the RTA in NSW has a permit kind of thing that would let you drive an unregistered car around.

Because i know that VicRoads have a 60 day permit, just wondering if NSW has the same thing.

Thanks in advance.

Try their website "www.rta.nsw.gov.au"

or call them

Technical enquiries regarding Vehicle Regulations should be directed to 1300 137 302.

or 02 4925 1805.

really? cool...

you can also drive a car to or from a workshop or RTA for the sole purpose of gettign registration.. need to put that in writing and date and sign it and have it ready for the cops when they pull you over... should also go the most direct route etc etc...

but yeah, call them just to make sure... and if possible, get it in writing Wink

Yep the "to effect repairs" clause does apply in NSW.
I spoke to the RTA technical script readers last week and they confirmed.

NSW RTA is gheyyyyyyyy.
They refuse to stop being tightazz and be a little lenient with some regulations.... this is the prime factor stopping all the roads and traffic authorities of Australia merging and becoming one governing body for all states...
