Hi,
I'm just wondering if the RTA in NSW has a permit kind of thing that would let you drive an unregistered car around.
Because i know that VicRoads have a 60 day permit, just wondering if NSW has the same thing.
Thanks in advance.

you can get an unregistered vehicle permit for a single trip. you wil however require a pink slip.

really? cool...
you can also drive a car to or from a workshop or RTA for the sole purpose of gettign registration.. need to put that in writing and date and sign it and have it ready for the cops when they pull you over... should also go the most direct route etc etc...
but yeah, call them just to make sure... and if possible, get it in writing

Yep the "to effect repairs" clause does apply in NSW.
I spoke to the RTA technical script readers last week and they confirmed.

NSW RTA is gheyyyyyyyy.
They refuse to stop being tightazz and be a little lenient with some regulations.... this is the prime factor stopping all the roads and traffic authorities of Australia merging and becoming one governing body for all states...
