2 wrongs DO make a right Sun, 28 August 2005 04:24 Go to next message
when i bought my first spare head to have ported, i initially pulled it a apart to see the condition of it, then when i put it back together i put the cams in back to front

when the cams got sent off to the cam specialist, they were labeled back to front {intake labeled exh ect ect}

head was shimmed to suit the back to front cams, this was a bit of an issue when i went to put the engine back together, as to adjust the cams it had ot be at TDC on cyl 4, as to be able to gain access to the dowels, and instead of having the cam locating slots verical, they had to be at "10 and 2"

this time, with my new head, i took the cams and the new head to the port shop, i told him the cams had "I" and "E" on them {which, remember, was back to front}, then HE has fucked up and put them in back to front, which incidentally the way they were supposed to be.

now when i have put this motor together, i have tried to set it up at "10 and 2", but couldnt get the bastard to make power, tried all different cam positions, but to no avail, in the end i was getting confused about what timing combo's i had used, so i said fuck it, i went back to the factory settings of vertial for the 2 slots int he cams

spun the engine over by hand, hmmm, no valve/piston clash, {i'm sure i tried that combo when the motor was going together and they clashed Rolling Eyes }, took it for a drive, fuck me, goes like a shower of shit now Very Happy

so my inital fuck up and the fuck up of the porters it turned out to work in the end, and now the cams are back intheir correct possitions, and i have decent adjustability too

yay Very Happy
