err..what do u mean? i thought stock Offset is +45 anyway?

so does that mean the bigger the rim, the less offset needs to be compensated for?

The offset is the distance from the mounting face to the centre of the wheel... so for a 6in rim and an 8in rim both with an offset of 45, the 8 in rim will have 2 inch less space on the inside which will hit the strut. Check out the links below.
