pikes peak peugeot 405.... Mon, 29 August 2005 16:55 Go to next message
a few glory shots from a peugeot dealer exec showroom in berlin...

i nearly fell clean over when walking past the window, and guess what i saw tucked up the back of the floor...

stragely enough, the folks inside werent too happy with me taking photos like a rabid chimp, but fuckem... i was wetting my pants, no time to listen to their german "please leave" babble...

imagine the street cred that wing would get you in the local maccas car park. The pikes peak cars are so cool but very nutty at the same time.

Great pics, I've always loved that car and Climb Dance would have to be my favorite piece of driving footage ever. Downloaded it a while back and still watch it on CD every so often.

Let me know if you have any more pics, I intend to build a model of this car one day (it's my hobby) and reference pics can be hard to come by so I'd love to grab any you may have.

Cheers,
Matt

Debatable. Depends on whether you equate hardcore with horsepower. There isn't a special stage that hasn't been driven faster by a Group A or WRC rally car, which highlights the developement that suspension, diffs, and materials have undergone.

Actually most of the gains would be in tyre technology KYOTO.

Weight distribution, centre of gravity, Torque, Better Recce's + pace notes, and like KYOTO said: DIFFS

So imagine if they let them run riot today with Group B rules.

And ED. Why weren't these previewed earlier. You got some explaining to do.

Actually this car started life as a Group B rally car - the running gear of the 205 Group B car was dropped into the 405 body (for marketing purposes) and the car was used for Pikes Peak as well as the Dakar Rally.

When Group B was banned at the end of 1986, the manufacturers found other events that the cars could be used for, notably Pikes Peak. Audi also raced the Group B Quattro S1 at the Peak, and won in '87 with Walter Rorhl. The Pug won in '88 and '89.
