i think that it would be for originallity, dont think he was going for all out power. the triple webers would probably make more power than the stock injection, and dont need a computer.
it is a KGC10 skyline and is one very rare car, jap only thing. came with an s20, pre L series engine. not the same as Z cars
they are very nice cars indeed

A setup like that isn't too bad for tuning, as long as the linkages and carbs are in good nick there is no reason for them to go out of tune often.

Multi carbs get a bad rap for tuning IMO because so many people try to use flogged out carbs.

Having played with webers for years, I haven't got a clue why anyone would think they could achieve more with them than EFI.
That weber setup would cost at least as much as a good programmable ecu, if not more. Confused

didi think a motor like that would produce much power with carbs as it was designed to have fuel injection.

how would the engine fully run with all the rest of the electrics on the motor?

as for the question why bother
I think it comes down to the fact that the owner might want to have something different to everyone else, something that he thinks is cool. I like the idea of late model engine with a bit of old school cool it would sound the shit I reckon and buy an import motor would be cheaper than rebuilding the old shitter

sigh, you young 'uns....

for all out power, carbs can be just as good power (some say better) than an EFI setup. all the engine needs is fuel, and carbs are remarkably good at metering fuel, but usually do so best in a smaller range than EFI.. carbs can also give superior atomisation than EFI..

i don't think that for top end power band, you would find much difference between a well sorted carb setup and well set up ITB EFI.

remember that they have been running carbs for nearly a century, so they still work pretty good Wink.. EFI is just more convenient for tuning, and cheaper to adjust... it also give more flexibility for tuning mid and low throttle more accurately, but carbs sound good, don't go out of tune the way it is being insinuated here, and they are a period look (as well as not being detrimental to power Razz )

I too want that car.

Remember that in other countries, aftermarket ECUs are mighty exxy, and carbs are an economically viable option. For the reasons Stew has outlined, they also make just as good power as an ITB EFI setup. The only other thing this engine would need is a distributor for spark (easy enough to do), or run a spark only ECU.

As has been mentioned these things ran the S20 motor.
