Hi every one

Ok my car needs new suspension and bushes (I love pedder quality)

What are people’s recommendations? I'm looking at spending about 5g

Cheers in advance
Jono

Whiteline works kit is definately a good choice as a suspension package.

If you want better you could always go Tein coilovers... but you would still want the Whiteline rear adjustable swaybar and all the bushes and the strut tower braces.

Hey mate,
Your looking at spending 5g!! holy crap, well what sort of suspension where you after?? Thats one hell of a large budget there.

I am getting some Tein super streets, will post up when they arrive, but roughly $1900 delivered.

Then im getting all the bushes in polyuthere for the car, Fulcrum guy said rougly $600 for every single bush under the car.

But yeah, tell us what sort of suspension your after? DMS have some great coil overs for $3800 it was, 40mm ones, last time i phoned(ages ago), they are rally orientated ones too.

whiteline also have a great works kit with koni struts, a few members here have them, might be able to shed some more light on that.

Very Happy

I would go the whiteline kit. When I have everthing working 100% on mine that is what I will be doing.

On further note.
I got my GT4 a couple of days ago. Yay.
I have cleaned it up, Had a crapload of water in exhuast, so it was smoking white for a bit, but after a while it stoped. It is blowing black smoke at high revs, and is running very rich. It isn't using any oil, but could do with a change, and the water in radiator is good. I think however that there is oil coming from the turbo, so It could be a while before I get it on the road. Oh and the power steering is leaking badly, I think the pump is close to being stuffed because the pulley wheel is all over the place. ( why did the pump have to be in the worst place ever.)
Anyway I will be taking it to a mechanic to get it looked over as I don't have a hoist. I was going to go local (Pakenham/Berwick) Does anybody know anywhere this side of Dandy that are realy good with st185's?

Are there any good mechanics around there, I was thinking of taking mine to Beaconsfeild as I have a friend with a R33 sykline that goes there. They seem to do good work.

Hi guys

Thanks for the info

Defiantly going for coil overs I don’t know what brand yet if any as my suspension guy can hand build me variable rate coil overs for my car so I might be getting them depending on price.

Also defiantly getting the adjustable sway bars.

How much difference do the strut braces make on the street?

Hey what setting do you guys have on your whiteline rear swaybar???
I feel that the medium setting on both sides suits my driving style and wheel alignment best... just interested to know what everyone else thinks.

Toobs (current) wheel alignment settings
Front
Camber: -1.3deg
Toe (Total): 0.6mm out
Toe (per side): 0.3mm out

Rear
Camber: -2deg
Toe (Total): 0.6mm in
Toe (per side): 0.3mm in

I use the hardest setting available.

I like my car oversteery on demand. Able to get it sideways without too much effort.

Actually, thats a good question, which setting is the hard setting? the one furthest away from the bar, or the other way around?

i could tell ya but its not here - though i believe its the closest to the bar - ie make the travel distance shorter - less flex = hardest ..

I find it fine for town or fun to be honest - but as said - i havent tried the other settings

Yeah the setting at the very end of the bar is the softest.

Hardest makes the car feel too much like its going to oversteer for me.
Middle is pretty well balanced.
Softest leaves the car as an understeering biatch.

But then its very dependant on your wheel alignment too... if I wasn't running much camber at the rear it would probably feel like oversteering at the middle setting.

How much of a difference will I notice once I turn my boost up 2 10 pound in all gears? because with the 3 inch exaust its not as quick as I thought it would be and 1st gear feels like it doesn't have much at all anyone else feel there 1st gear is underpowered?

I'm sure a pod filter will make 1st gear feel much more powerful? Can anyone tell me if they have had a stock st185 then put a 3 inch exaust form turbo back on it, then performed the above mods I have mentioned. Let me know what the power increase was like?

Thanks

Andrew

dude u seem to place too much faith in mods such as a pod filter and a bigger exhaust..expecting huge gains when in real life u only really get up to 10 kw with the combination, anyway u will notice pretty decent gains from upping ur boost, just make sure u disable ur tvsv before u do run more boost, once u do u will find that 1st and 2nd dont feel underpowered anymore

i'm booked in for a dyno power run tomorrow. shootout mode.
not too sure what to expect at this stage.
its a rebuilt 3sgte with forged pistons, head work, hiflow ct26,3" aussie dump, front pipe+ hiflow cat.converter. and stock boost!! so thats going to be my downside.
anyone wanna guess? i'll post my results tomorrow.

Hey guys got my car back from mechanics yesterday after gettin the alternator checked up, and checking all the tuning. The mechanic told me everythin is in good order except the injectors r dirty and clogged. He said when they r warm they r supposed to be open 3mm but r open 8mm and said they will need to be pulled out and cleaned and so on which is gonna be like 200 bucks. Just wondering whether this sounds like a fair price and if it doesn't sound like bullshit?

yup they are on the car atm .. I have to get the latest series of repairs and brakework finished - then take it back down to melb to have them removed , and the Gt4 retuned again to run standalone on the wolf ..

Im expecting at around another 10 - 15 KW atw once this happens also - seeing it will not need to have anything overridden

The group A shifter is shorter length and stroke to the standard 185 shifter... the 185 shifter feels like you're driving a truck by comparison.

My GT4 has a short shifter, If only it had a decent gearbox.

I need to get mine closer to stock so I can get a roadworthy, thenwhen I have the money up I will mod it a bit. Have to get it running right first.
I'm pretty dure my turbo is allowing oil to get into the engine. Slight amount of oil around the trumpet on the blow off valve. And engine blows smoke when under load. I htink it is turbo seals? Not sure as I know bugger all about turbos, but it still boosts ok. If i need seals, do I need to reco? Or should I try to get a new turbo, or high flow. I read somewhere that garret were going to do cores for the ct26 as they were rather popular. Has anybody heard anything like this? If so I would be rather interested.

Some oil around the BOV outlet is normal, its from the PCV. If there's bucketloads of it then somethings wrong. When you say smoke under load, do you mean under boost? Cos they usually blow smoke under full boost due to running rich. If it's blue smoke under any kinda load, or at idle, like my car WAS doing, then theres problems Smile

When I got mine the guy was asking 23 for it

Looks like I will be putting custom suspension in my car as apparently Tein dont make coil overs for our cars any more.

So I'm probably getting Billstine inserts and Eibach springs
